As my husband and I near our one year anniversary, we can’t help but get excited. The year has gone by so fast, but it has been a lot of fun. We’ve moved into our own home, settled into a daily routine, and have had some great times together. Not only that, but with his help I’ve been able to start this blog to help all of the other brides out there with their wedding planning, sometimes by learning from my mistakes, but overall learning some great ways to save a little bit of money on their wedding planning (which is so important!). I love him so much, and can’t to see what this new year as a married couple will bring us. So, I’m going to dedicate this article to the newlyweds, and those who are about to celebrate their one year anniversary. I know that my husband is planning something special for us to do, but I don’t know what it is. But for all of you guys out there who are about to celebrate their one year anniversary, here are some great one year anniversary ideas for gifts and other outings you can do to help make it memorable. After all, you only have your one year anniversary once, right?
The Traditional One Year Anniversary Ideas for a Gift - Paper
Traditionally, the one year anniversary gift to your spouse should be paper. Now, while that can mean that you just get your loved one a card, there are lots of one year anniversary ideas that while are still paper, are a little more exciting, or something that you both can do together.
Get tickets to a play (the tickets count as paper, right?), or maybe get a board game or puzzle that you can play together. Or, write a love letter letting him/her know just how much they still mean to you. There are lots of fun one year anniversary ideas with a paper theme that you can do to help have a really fun one year anniversary.
One Year Anniversary Ideas - Celebrating Your Past
One great set of one year anniversary ideas have to do with celebrating the past that both have spent together. Take her back to the place where you proposed, or another location that has special meaning to you. My husband proposed on a sandy beach next to a nearby lake at sunset, and it was so beautiful and romantic. Being able to relive those memories are a great way to celebrate your one year anniversary. If your husband proposed at a restaurant, then go back to that restaurant and try to get the same table. Any one year anniversary ideas you can come up that celebrate your past are sure to touch the heart.
One Year Anniversary Ideas - Get out of Town
I love taking trips and traveling, I really do. If you have the resources to do so, then another set of great one year anniversary ideas is to get out of town for a weekend. Go someplace nearby and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, see the sights and really be able to enjoy spending time with each other like you did on your honeymoon. It’s a nice break from the mundane and everyday routine that you have set up, and really, what couple doesn’t need to spend more time together?
Your one year anniversary is a big step. After all, these days lots of couples are in great shape if they are still together after one year. Just kidding. There are plenty of great one year anniversary ideas that you can come up with if you consider your budget and the preferences of each other. But whatever you do for your one year anniversary, make sure your spouse knows just how much you love them, and how you’d do it all over again. If you have any one year anniversary stories to tell, or have some questions, then please write in and let me know.
