Last weekend, I was able to go on a girl’s getaway to the coast with my mom and sister. We stayed in a really nice resort decked out with beautiful fresh flowers and complete with classical music playing from a self-playing piano that even overlooked the ocean. Pretty snazzy huh? Now, I didn’t go on this weekend getaway to think about subjects for new articles or anything like that, but the situation presented itself so clearly that I felt I really needed to write about it. You see, at the front of this beautiful resort, over to one side, there was a beautiful grassy area with a large white gazebo labeled the ‘Wedding Gazebo’. I even remember commenting about it on our way inside the hotel to check in. It would have been a beautiful location for an outdoor wedding. Little did I know that my viewpoint on their wedding location was going to change drastically.
As we left our hotel one of the mornings that we were there, I noticed that there were lovely white chairs lined up in front of their wedding gazebo, and we commented that there was going to be a lovely outdoor wedding there later today. But as we looked around and noticed the surroundings of the wedding gazebo in relation to everything else, I noticed there were a few major problems with the location of their wedding ceremony, and they are as follows.
1. The wedding gazebo was in the front right of the hotel, and had a beautiful view of the ocean.
A beautiful wedding backdrop of a fancy resort on one side with a nice view of the ocean on the other side, who can beat it right? The only problem with this, to me anyway, was that their wedding gazebo was in the front of the hotel. Meaning that there was a lot of thru traffic from people driving into the hotel to check in, families with kids in swimsuits yelling and laughing while going down to ocean and the valet service all just a few feet from the wedding ceremony itself while it was in progress. Pretty distracting, and no privacy or intimacy at all.
2. Separating the resort and the ocean was a major traffic road.
Another huge problem with their wedding location was the large road that separated the hotel and the beach. There was an incredibly large amount of noise from that traffic as well, from the men riding Harley’s revving their engines up and down the strip to just regular cars and honking. So not only did the bride and groom have to use microphones, they also had a ton of loud background noise.
If it hadn’t been for those two factors, to me the place would have been ideal for an outdoor wedding. I can’t stress enough that if you’re wanting an outdoor wedding and are looking for the perfect location for your wedding ceremony, to visit each place and be honest with yourself. If you can pinpoint some of the problems in the beginning, which will help you to rule out certain locations for your outdoor wedding.
