Many couples this year living on the coast, or choosing to have a destination wedding will be having a beach wedding. Beach weddings are another kind of outdoor weddings that can turn out really beautiful and charming if planned correctly. Planning a beach wedding is very different from planning any other kind of wedding, not only in that it is a wedding planned outdoors, but also in that beach weddings can present some new situations that you don’t need to consider when planning traditional indoor weddings. Beach weddings typically require some kind of non-traditional wedding dress and shoes to keep a nice and fancy dress from getting destroyed or dirty. Not only that, but if you are planning on having a beach wedding, you are also going to need some special beach wedding shoes to help you to stay comfortable and moderately pain-free throughout your wedding. As I’ve said before in previous articles, wedding shoes are typically overlooked because so many brides spend most of their time searching for the perfect wedding dress, but they are important. So if you are planning a beach wedding, then here are some different kinds of beach wedding shoes to consider to help make your wedding day go as smoothly as possible.
Your Beach Wedding Shoes Should be Comfortable
There is always something to be said for a pair of comfortable shoes. I’m sure we’ve all been in the predicament of having shoes that pinch or cramp-it can totally ruin an evening if you’re cringing with every step. That goes for every bride no matter what kind of wedding she is planning. But if you are planning a beach wedding, then your beach wedding shoes need to be comfortable for you to walk on in the sand and gravel. I had the misfortune during our honeymoon to be wearing a pair of heels to dinner, only to have a moonlight walk on the beach afterward. Don’t get me wrong, it was totally romantic, but very hard to walk in. So, the best piece of advice I have for finding a comfortable pair of beach wedding shoes that you can walk on the sand in, try it out for yourself. Try walking through the sand where your wedding will be, and see if you are able to walk around comfortably. That will give you a good idea on finding beach wedding shoes that you’ll be able to walk in.
Beach Wedding Shoes Should be Sand-Friendly
It should go without saying, but your beach wedding shoes need to be able to work with the sand. You don’t want to be forever stopping to empty the sand out of your wedding shoes so that you can walk normally. My advice, stay away from close toed shoes or other kinds of pumps that will not allow sand to exit the shoe on it’s own. Flip flops are always a popular choice for beach wedding shoes, since they are both informal and sand-friendly. If you can’t see yourself using flip flops as your beach wedding shoes, then maybe look for some flat strappy sandals that you can still walk in comfortable, and will not require you to be dumping sand out of your shoes so much.
Many brides choose to go for a more informal look when they are planning a beach wedding. Many brides find a wedding dress that is not floor length, or perhaps a wedding sun dress that will be more comfortable and yet still beautiful and elegant on her wedding day. So, if you are planning a beach wedding, don’t forget to find the perfect pair of beach wedding shoes so that you are able to enjoy your wedding day as much as possible.

You shouldn’t be afraid of wearing no shoes for a beach wedding either. Especially if you know the beach or have people making sure it is clear of glass.

Beach wedding shoes are very important for the bride and groom to choose.Sandals are the choice of most, however traditional wedding shoes are also acceptable.

I live on Maui and see so many beach weddings…often brides find white thongs with rhinestones on them. And if they do wear regular shoes they usually take them off once they get to the sand. I think wearing shoes on the sand actually looks funny. Something that is really cute and perfect for pictures is to bring along some beaded barefoot sandals. They are just beaded straps that go around your ankle and your second toe, but there is no bottoms to these. Of course the bride will need to wear other shoes until she gets to the beach..but once in teh sand, she can slip off her shoes and slip on her beaded barefoot sandals. I’m a beader myself and actually make beach bride jewelry, but I don’t make these..I have seen them though and they are so cute!

I am a wedding singer and was asked to wear appropriate shoes for the beach. We wear choir robes(ankle length)and normally black pumps. what would keep with our uniform and be comfortable on the beach?
