Planning a wedding shower for a dear friend or family member can be daunting. Not only do you have to choose a location and time, but you’ve got to send invitations, decorate your location, provide food and entertainment, and it can be really overwhelming if you aren’t used to planning parties. Wedding showers are a great time for friends and family to get together, spend some quality time and really celebrate with the bride and groom about their upcoming wedding. So you need everything at your wedding shower to be perfect. So it should go without saying that your wedding shower decorations need to be out of this world. You want to bride to remember her wedding shower with fond memories, and not wishing that more had been done. With a little bit of effort, you can create the perfect wedding shower decorations without breaking your budget. Here are some great tips for choosing the best wedding shower decorations.
Follow Your Theme – Color
One of the first things you need to do is to choose a wedding shower theme for the party you’re throwing.
If you need some ideas, check out my articles on wedding shower themes, and more fun wedding shower themes. Your theme doesn’t have to be something big and extravagant, but having one will surely help you come up with the best decorations for it. Many wedding shower planners choose to just pick a color (typically the wedding’s colors) for their theme, and that’s perfectly fine. Having a color or base of colors will really help you to pick out some great wedding shower decorations. For example, if your theme is a color, or pair of colors, play it up. Buy some nice colored table runners or a tapestry for the wall.
Follow Your Theme – Places
Anothr popular idea for wedding shower theme is places. So if you know the bride loves a particular place, or they are going somewhere really special for their honeymoon, or even just think that one particular location will be really fun to use, you can use that for a wedding shower theme. Some great examples of popular places for wedding shower themes are Hawaii, France, Mexico, the ocean, and so much more. So, if your theme is a location, such as Hawaii, put up some beautiful posters, put out some whole pinapples and coconuts, tiki torches, and play some Hawaiian music in the background. Once you have a theme, ideas for wedding shower decorations should come much more easily.
Create a Centerpiece
One great way to really make your wedding shower decorations pop is to create a beautiful centerpiece, or focal point your decorations. If you are having a pink and brown wedding shower to go with the brides colors, then go all out but don’t overdo it. Create a beautiful centerpiece with the colors on your tables, and a ligther shade of the colors elsewhere. Centerpieces can be as easy and simple as a brightly colored paper umbrella. For example, if you’re using cherry blossom branches as a centerpiece (which I love!), you’ll see that they create a beautiful focal point to your table. So put down a very light brown or light pink tablecloth and some smaller shot glasses full of coffee beans in various places the table. You don’t need your wedding shower decorations to slap anybody in the face when they walk in, make it classy!
Using Food to Decorate!
Don’t forget the snacks! Many people don’t realize that they can use their wedding shower snacks as part of their wedding shower decorations as well. There are some great recipes and finger foods that can be made beautifully to match certain colors, chocolate foondue which looks and smells great, and of course, the wedding shower cake. So do your research and let your snacks go along with your theme, and of course, add to the overall magic of the shower you’re planning.
You know, it always amazes me just how much a little bit of effort and imagination can go. Most people want to put everything off until the last minute, and then be disappointed when it doesn’t turn out the way that they wanted it to. But if you just put a little bit of effort into planning your wedding shower, then everyone will always remember your efforts and the bride will have some wonderful memories the rest of her life.
