Black and white is a classic color combination. Iti’s been around for generations, and never seems to go out of style! Black and white weddings are simple to do since they’re both pretty popular colors, and however you slice it you’re sure to come up with a winner. It’s amazing how just your wedding colors can really set the tone for your whole wedding! Many brides choose black and white for their wedding colors, and it’s a really simple way to create an elegant atmosphere without a lot of extra money. So if you’re planning a black and white wedding, and need some centerpiece and decorating ideas, here are some great black and white centerpiece ideas to help get you off onto the right foot!
White on Black and Vice Versa!
The first place to start when you’re decorating your wedding tables are the tables themselves! If you’re doing a black and white wedding, then this is s uper easy to pull off! Use a black tablecloth with white dishes and napkins, or alternatively, a white tablecloth with black dishes and napkins. Most caterers or restaurant supply stores will have plenty of tablecloths in both colors, so you can easily dress it up yourself!
Ideas for Black and White Wedding Centerpieces
Since black and white is such a popular color combination, you can find lots of different ways to play off of this theme. Here are some great ideas for black and white wedding centerpieces:
Flowers – Use black ceramic vases, tie a beautiful white ribbon around the vase, and fill your vases with some beautiful white flowers such as roses, calla lilies, magnolia blossoms, or any other elegant white flower . Or, use white ceramic vases with black ribbons and black tulips, roses or calla lilies. If you don’t like the vases idea, use a black ceramic dish and fill it up with beautiful magnolia blossoms and short black and white votives for a shorter elegant black and white wedding centerpiece. Plus, with magnolia blossoms they smell great and you can find them off of a neighbor’s tree!
Fish – Although it seems to be a particularly touchy subject on my blog (check out Goldfish Bowl Wedding Centerpieces), you can also use fish bowls with black and white fish as a beautiful live decoration. If you want to dress it up even more, use black and white stones inside the tank. Just be sure to take care of your fish and give them out to loving homes after your wedding is over!
Candles - Candles are another popular staple for black and white wedding centerpieces. You can always use floating black and white candles in a clear bowl, or jazz it up with a colored bowl. You could also buy some elegant candelabras in either white or black (black is typically easier to find), and top them off white beautiful white candles. It’s a great way to add elegance and style to your wedding tables.
Pictures - Another great idea for black and white wedding centerpieces that most people don’t do are pictures. Gather your favorite black and white prints, ask guests for black and white pictures of their weddings, or some exotic locale like Paris in black and white. Pair it with a white matte and black frame, and set several pictures on each table so every guest can see a picture. Put some some small white votives around the table as well for a truly romantic feel.
Games – Put large chess boards at the center of every table! It works double duty! Not only will a chess board give you those great black and white colors, but it gives your guests something to do while they are sitting down! Put someone’s name at the bottom of each chess board and let them take the boards home after the wedding. It’s a low cost black and white wedding centerpiece to be sure!
Animal Print - If you love animal print, then what can be better than using zebra print on your wedding tables! Wrap some vases in the material, or use zebra print table runners to add an exotic flair to your wedding. Just remember that a little goes a long way!
I love the colors black and white – in fact, that’s the color that is found the most in my closet! A black and white wedding can turn into a really classy affair for not a lot of cash, so be creative when thinking of black and white wedding centerpieces and other decorations you choose to do!
