Cup Cake Wedding Cake Stands

Cupcake wedding cakes have certainly shown themselves to be a popular alternative to the traditional wedding cake. Many brides are looking for ways to make their wedding stand out from their friends, and if you’re one of the people who prefer cupcakes to a slice of regular cake, then having a cupcake wedding cake is a great way to do it. Personally, I love the idea of cupcake wedding cakes, because I’ve seen a lot of wedding cupcake designs that are ultra elegant, and don’t look anything like the kinds of cupcakes I had at my fifth birthday party. But once you’ve decided to use cupcakes instead of a traditional wedding cake, the question always comes up on how to display them on your cake table. Thus begins the search for cup cake wedding cake stands that are classy and that can hold a lot of cupcakes at one time. Cup cake wedding cake stands come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colors and even materials, and you’re sure to find one that meets your needs perfectly. Here are some great types of cupcake wedding cake stands, as well as some great instructions I found on how to make your own.

Features of Cup Cake Wedding Cake Stands

There are several different types of cup cake wedding cake stands that you can use to display and serve your cupcake wedding cakes. Cupcake towers and cupcake stands are stands where each tier is separtated by one or more pillars, which creates height and elegance to your cupcake wedding cakes. They can be up to 7 tiers high (but that may be getting into the dangerous zone for falling over!), with a place on the top tier for a small wedding cake for the cake cutting ceremony or for your first anniversary. Cup cake wedding cake stands are made to resemble an actual traditional tiered wedding cake when it is arranged. The platforms in each level of the cupcake stand is typically made of corrugated cardboard covered in white paper, unless you opt for a glass or metal cupcake stand. Good cup cake wedding cake stands will hold anywhere from 25 to 200 cupcake wedding cakes, so you’re sure to find one to meet your needs.

DIY Cupcake Wedding Cake Stands

If purchasing a cup cake wedding cake stand for $40 or $50 seems like a waste to you, you can always make your own pretty easily. Go to a local bakery and purchase some standard cake boards (different sizes if you have several tiers), some foam cake dummies (2×7) from the craft store, thin ribbon of whatever color you choose, and wrapping paper. Glue two of the foam dummies together with craft glue to create some height, then wrap the outside with your colored ribbon, gluing it into place. When you’re done, you should only see the ribbon, no foam anywhere. Then, using a pencil, trace a circle onto the wrapping paper you have chosen and glue the circle onto the top of the cake board. Use your ribbon again to glue it around the edges and make your cake stand look uniform. Glue your cake boards onto the top and bottom of the cake dummies, and you have a professional looking cupcake stand. Cup cake wedding cake stands don’t need to cost a fortune! If you are going to make your own tiered cupcake stand, be sure to get cake boards of varying diameter’s to create the classic look. Also, make sure that you have enough height to fit your cupcakes between each level of your cake.

Finding good cup cake wedding cake stands shouldn’t have to be one of the more difficult parts of planning your wedding and your wedding cake. So now that you have some idea of what to look for, and how to make one if you can’t find a good cupcake stand in your price range – nothing should stand in your way!

The higher you go with your stand the wider the subsequent bases/tiers must be. It could also become difficult for your guests to reach their cup cake/favor etc if it is to large, and could risk an accident.
