Invitation Wording for a Shower

Bridal Showers No Comments »

Invitation Wording for a ShowerMy sister is going through this right now, and it seems to be driving her crazy. She is planning a bridal shower for a good friend of hers from college who is getting married next month. Katie, my sister, wants to create a bridal shower invitation that will sound and look cute, and be something memorable for her friend to hang on to in the future, but is having trouble coming up with ideas. This really does happen a lot. Sometimes its hard finding the perfect invitation working for a shower, when you want to come up with something cute and your mind just sort of hits a brick wall so to speak. So, if you are planning a bridal shower, and need help with the invitation wording for your bridal shower, here are some great commonly used verses and poems to help you get started.

  • John and Jane will soon have a wedding /Down the aisle is where they’re heading /Before they become husband and wife /Let’s shower them with things for their new life
  • Jane’s wedding is only days away/Let’s help her relax before the big day
  • They’ve bought the dress and ordered the cake /They’re anxious about the vows they’ll make /To help pass the time and shorten the wait /We’re having a shower and here is the date.
  • Jane is getting married/Who would have thought?/Lets throw her a party/Before she ties the knot!
  • Jane’s wedding is on the way/Let’s get her prepared for the big day!
  • Jane’s all grown up/And giggling with glee/Please join us to honor/our sweet bride-to-be!

Of course, with any invitation wording for a shower, you will want to be sure to include the place, time and day, along with RSVP information. If you are having a couples shower, then your invitation wording for the shower needs to somehow indicate that it is for couples, and if a meal or snacks are being served. Invitation wording for showers should not be the most difficult part of planning a bridal shower for your friend, so take a deep breath, and remember to have fun with it. Bridal Tiaras

Wedding Hairstyles No Comments »

Bridal TiarasWhen thumbing through all the pictures of the different wedding hairstyles available to the bride, it can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many different ways that brides can wear their hair for the big day. Long flowing hair cascading down your back, a fancy updo, or a wedding hairstyle that is halfway up or just full of curls, the possibilities are endless. For more information about the different updos you can choose from, and how to choose, see my previous article, Wedding Hairstyles. One popular accessory to the different wedding hairstyles that brides look through are bridal tiaras. I’m seeing them more and more with the different weddings that I attend, and I even wore one for our wedding. There are all different types of bridal tiaras from which to choose, and you need consider several options when choosing the right bridal tiara for you.

Consider Your Wedding Dress

You don’t want to have a bridal tiara that is huge and ornate and have a simple wedding dress. Likewise, it would look odd if you had a huge ornate wedding dress and a small, simple and barely visable bridal tiara. Bridal tiaras come in every height, design, and shape. When I was looking for my bridal tiara, I saw many different bridal tiaras that were the size of a Miss America crown which stood nearly a foot off the brides head, some bridal tiaras that were shorter, and some that were simply jeweled headbands. Since my dress was simple, I choose a bridal tiara that resembled a jeweled headband. It was made with many different crystals and beads which looked like flowers, and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it.

Consider Your Wedding Hairstyle

You really do need to have some kind of idea what kind of wedding hairstyle you’d like to have when shopping for your bridal tiara. Now, you don’t need to know exactly what wedding hairstyle you’re going to have, but just some idea. If you know that you want your hair down and wavy, then when you try the different bridal tiaras be sure to leave your hair down. If you know that you want your hair completely up, then when trying on the different bridal tiaras bring a clip and put your hair up with it to see what it would look like.

Take Your Bridal Tiara to Your Hairdresser

When you are visiting your hairdresser to finalize your wedding hairstyle, be sure to bring your bridal tiara along. That way when you experiment with the different wedding hairstyles you can see what kind of wedding hairstyle would look best with your bridal tiara.

Bridal tiaras make a great addition to your wedding jewelry and bridal look. They add a touch of elegance and grace, drawing attention to you, the bride. You can find bridal tiaras at most any wedding store, online store, or catalog. Personally, I found mine while on a vacation in Monterrey, Mexico. A friend took me to several bridal shops, which had cases and cases of different kinds of bridal tiaras. It look several stores to find one that I loved, but the search was worth it. My Bridal Hair and Make-up Story

Wedding Day Tips No Comments »

My Bridal Hair and Make-up StoryI’ll be the first to admit that I’m not real great at doing my own hair. To tell the truth, all I can really do is a pony tail, or maybe on a good day I can do this little french twist thing with a couple off bobby pins. For some reason curling irons never do what I want them to do, and my flat iron just doesn’t work with me either. Lucky for me my husband likes my hair down and straight, and that is easy enough for me to handle. And while we are being truthful here, I don’t really even like wearing make-up all that much. I’ll put some base and eyeliner on for a special occasion, but anything else I’m pretty lost on. So I knew that for my wedding I would have to either enlist a friend with those talents, or hire an expert to help me out. After some minor research I found an expert in both hair and make-up nearby who could help me out.

This lady I found would come out to my wedding site and do my hair and make-up. She would also stay right up until the wedding started in case something went wrong or some pins came loose. Not only that, but she was also there on site and available to work with my bridesmaids and get their hair and make-up done as well if they needed it. This saved both me and my bridesmaids a lot of time and stress having to make appointments at a salon and then be back in time for pictures. Not only that, I didn’t have to worry about getting from the salon to the church while keeping my hair in place. This method worked out the best for me since not only was I unable to do the work myself, I was also able to not have something else to worry about. This may not be the best route for everyone though.

Some women can do their make-up well, and don’t need someone to come in and help them with that. If you can do your own make-up, and own all the make up you need to get the look you want for your wedding, then do it yourself and save the money. I just knew the extent of my talent at make-up, and knew that I needed some help. Also, if you have a friend who can do hair well, and is willing to take the time to do your hair for the wedding, then show her pictures of what you’d like and have her try and do it for you. A couple of practice sessions may be in order. With all the expenses of your wedding, I know how brides need to save money where they can, and this is one of those areas. If you can do your own make-up, and get someone to do your hair for you, then I say go for it. Unfortunately this was something I had to spend the money on because I knew that there was no way I could do it myself.

Choosing a Honeymoon Destination

Honeymoon No Comments »

Honeymoon DestinationsOne of the major responsibilities of the groom is to plan and pay for the honeymoon destination. While some grooms out there may plan the entire thing by themselves with the honeymoon destination remaining a secret to the bride, many others enlist the help of their brides to help them choose the perfect honeymoon destination for them. If you’ve never thought of what kind of honeymoon destination you’d like to have, then now is the time to start considering it. Trust me, the earlier you discuss the different honeymoon destination possibilities, the earlier you can get everything taken care of, and perhaps save a bit of money by making your decisions early. If you are still wondering what kind of honeymoon destination questions to ask, then here are some great tips to helping you get started.

Talk to Each Other About Your Dream Honeymoon Destinations

One of the things that really helped us was to sit down and talk about it. Ask each other questions like this, “Would your dream vacation be on a warmer beach, or in a cabin in the mountains with cooler temperatures?” Or if they would like to be surrounded by people and things to do, or be secluded on a beach somewhere or if some other place they’ve always wanted to visit for a honeymoon destination, such as Disney World or some other place like. Ask . Be sure to answer the questions honestly, and not just say what the other person wants to hear, your honeymoon destination that should fit both of your tastes and interests. And you’ll only have one honeymoon, so make sure it is something that you will enjoy.

Start Researching Costs for Your Honeymoon Destination

With all of the other expenses you’ll have while planning a wedding, it can be easy to overstep your budget while planning your honeymoon. Be sure to develop a realistic budget and stick with it. The earlier you start planning your honeymoon destination, the better rates you’ll get, and availability of what you want to do. Perhaps the first thing to do is to see a travel agent to see what kinds of deals they have, but then go and look for honeymoon destination websites which offer a lot of help as well. For example, we used Apple Vacations on the internet and purchased an all-inclusive honeymoon deal. They were easy to work with, and they delivered on what they promised.

Reserve Your Honeymoon Destination Tickets Early

Some people will argue with me on this one. I believe that you should purchase the tickets for your honeymoon destination as early as possible to reserve a spot. Others will argue that many honeymoon destination hotels and plane tickets will decrease their costs as the time approaches and they still have availability. We found a great way around this problem, as Apple Vacations offered a security package stating that if we ever found the rates had decreased on us from what we had bought into, that all we had to do was write them a note and they would decrease our fare as well. And it was great, the rates did decrease twice before we went on our trip, and we ended up saving several hundred dollars on the honeymoon, but since we had bought our tickets early, we got the location and hotel that we really wanted. It couldn’t have worked out better.

Choosing your honeymoon destination shouldn’t be to difficult once you discuss what kinds of climates and areas you prefer. If you both want a beach vacation, but the budget is smaller, then you may want to look at staying in the United States and go to Florida, going down into Mexico to Cancun or other tourist hot spot, or even taking a honeymoon cruise and visiting several different beaches on your trip. Your honeymoon destination and what you do should be what both of you want. This is your first vacation together as a married couple, and you’ll never have a second honeymoon, so make sure both of your interests are represented.
