Marriage Proposal Ideas

Marriage Proposals 1 Comment »

Marriage Proposal IdeasWith perhaps the most romantic day of the year coming up soon, there is no doubt that many new couples will be engaged in the next few weeks. Now, I’ve always said that a growing, a girl dreams of her wedding day, and how she wants it to be. While she does dream of her perfect wedding day, she also dreams about her marriage proposal. Wedding proposals are actually pretty important, according to most women anyway. So here is a fair warning to you men out there, if you don’t put in the necessary thought and effort into a huge milestone like a wedding proposal, you may find yourselves in a heap of trouble which could hurt your relationship instead of strengthen it, and you may not get the desired result of a yes answer. Your wedding proposal should be very personal, romantic, and individual to you both. There are lots of marriage proposal stories and marriage proposal ideas that you can use, and it’s best to have a plan whatever your marriage proposal ideas may be. Here are some great marriage proposal ideas that you can use to help you get started if you don’t have a clue.

Simple Marriage Proposal Ideas

A lot of people go over the top for wedding proposals, and spend a whole lot of money on ensuring that their marriage proposal is out of this world. However, in the event of an upcoming wedding in your future, it could be in your best interest to keep your marriage proposal simple and save some money that you’ll need later. There are lots of simple marriage proposal ideas that you can use, and you’ll have to get creative. Many prefer their marriage proposals to be private, so perhaps a romantic candlelit dinner or moonlight walk could be best for you. The element of surprise is a must, as a marriage proposal can lose some of it’s excitement when the bride to be knows it’s coming. Many men try and write some poetry, or give a speech on just what their girl means to them, which is totally romantic, and costs nothing but a little bit of time.

Fun Marriage Proposal Ideas

There are lots of men who take the time and effort to make their marriage proposal to be something special. I’ve heard of marriage proposal ideas where the bride to be was led on a scavenger hunt all over town to wind up at a fancy restaurant with her man and a ring waiting for her. Or what about that awesome proposal in “Sweet Home Alabama” where the man takes Reese Witherspoon into Tiffany’s, proposes in the store, and then tells her to pick out any kind of ring she wants. These kinds of fun marriage proposal ideas can make for some great romantic memories that you both can share for years to come. Typically these kinds of marriage proposal ideas are done publicly, either in a quiet restaurant or a marriage proposal over the intercom of some large arena.

There are lots of different marriage proposal ideas out there that you can read and get ideas from to help create your perfect marriage proposal. Sometimes even just stopping what you’re doing and dropping to one knee and asking her to be your bride is proposal enough. Any marriage proposal ideas that you have need to have some kind of intimacy and privacy.
When my husband proposed, I had no idea it was coming. First, he made me a dinner of grilled chicken and vegetables, and then we drove out to a lake that he lived by at the time, and we walked up and down the beach until sunset, when he dropped to one knee and took the ring out of his pocket. It was so romantic, and we still go out to that lake to walk up and down the beach. So, if you’re planning on popping the question, be sure to plan out your marriage proposal ideas and find something that will totally wow your girl. She’s worth it.

Pew Decoration Ideas

Church Decorations 2 Comments »

Pew Decoration IdeasAnother great way to add some color and class to your church decorations is to have pew decorations. Now, I wanted to have pew decorations as part of my wedding decorations, because I just think it adds so much to the overall look and transformation of a church or chapel into a beautiful and elegant place to have a wedding. I chose to have pew bows for my pew decorations, and go into a little more extensive detail about it in previous articles such as Do I Need Church Decorations and How to Make Pew Bows. I knew there were lots of ideas for pew decorations that I could go with and any one of them would be beautiful, but I thought that pew bows with sparkle ribbon and lots of tulle would look best in our church, and would create the look that I was going for. But, if you don’t like pew bows or perhaps are just looking for different ideas for pew decorations, then here are some other popular ideas to help you out.

Pew Decorations with Flowers

One great and popular way to add some color and style to your pew decorations is to use flowers. The flowers can be real or fake, or even a mixture of both to help save on costs. I remember I tried to have real flowers for all of my pew decorations, and the cost from a typical florist were astronomical. So you can only have arrangements on the first few pews to help save on costs, or you can integrate fake flowers to help stretch your dollar and still give you some beautiful pew decorations. Or, you can attach a single flower to the end of each pew, simple and elegant. Another popular idea for pew decorations with flowers is to use flower balls. I’m not sure if this what they’re really called, but if you’ve looked at any pictures on the internet, then you know what I’m talking about. Attach a ribbon to these flower balls and hang them from the ends of the pews, or even every other pew, and you’ve got an elegant pew decoration that is sure to have your guests take notice.

Pew Decorations with Candles

Another option for your pew decorations is to use candles. There are single candle holders that you can rent and stand beside each pew for a really elegant look, or you can find ways to attach a small candle holder by a ribbon or wire from the end of each pew. Get permission from your church before you do this though, as worst case scenario could be a falling candle and a small fire on your wedding day - not fun!

Pew Decorations with a Theme

If you are having a themed wedding, then look for pew decorations that will go along with your theme. For example, a friend of mine had a beach wedding, and they attached tall tiki torches to each pew. They didn’t light them - but the sight was enough. If you are having a western wedding theme, then you could hang cowboy hats to the end of your pews or bandannas tied around some simple white daisies are pretty as well.

There are lots of different ideas that you can use as your pew decorations. Get creative and try them out in your wedding location to make sure they’ll hold or give the look that you want them to give. One thing is for sure, the right pew decorations will really help your guests get excited about the transformation of the church as well as being excited about your wedding. If you have any ideas for pew decorations that you’ve seen or used before and loved, then write in and let me know!

More Bachelorette Party Ideas

Bridal Party 2 Comments »

More Bachelorette Party IdeasBachelorette parties can be a lot of fun. Bachelorette parties are typically hosted by the maid of honor and her bridesmaids and other girlfriends. Now, as I’ve mentioned before in several previous articles, I’m a Christian, and the party scene with drinking and strippers just doesn’t appeal to me. So it started me thinking, there have got to be other kinds of bachelorette parties that brides can go to that aren’t just about drinking, clubs, and male strippers. My previous article about Bachelorette Party Ideas went over really well, and a lot of people got help from it, so much so that I’ve decided to do another article with more great bachelorette party ideas that are different from norm. So, consider this my bachelorette party ideas part 2. Here is another list of great bachelorette party ideas that you can use to plan a bachelorette party the bride will never forget!

Take Your Bachelorette Party Out of Town

Planning this kind of bachelorette party requires some planning, to be sure. Grab the bride and a group of ladies and just take a weekend out of town. If the bride likes to shop, then rent a hotel room near an outlet mall, or near to her favorite boutiques. That way you can spend the day shopping, or window shopping, and the bride can spend her last evenings going out to dinner with her favorite girlfriends, and staying up late having girl talk. This kind of bachelorette party idea is a great way to give the bride some girl time, as well as some time to unload some of the stress that she has been dealing with doing her wedding planning.

Take your Bachelorette Party to the Spa

I covered this bachelorette party idea when I was talking about some different bridal shower ideas. But a spa is a great place to host a bachelorette party as well. Treat the bride to a relaxing massage, or even a manicure and pedicure to help her get ready for the wedding. Then, after everyone is relaxed and rejuvenated, take her out to a nice restaurant, to a karaoke bar, or some other place that the bride loves to go to. Remember that the bachelorette party is a party for the bride, and you should make it something that she really loves to do.

Bachelorette Party Ideas - The Slumber Party

My sister hosted a bachelorette party like this just a few months ago. The bride really just wanted a night to stay in, and to have one last slumber party before her wedding. So, they did it up like we were back in junior high or high school. They rented movies, baked cookies, and gave the bride a few gifts for her wedding, and overall they had a great time. It was just what the bride wanted to be able to spend some great time with friends, and relax from planning her wedding. Not only that, but she got to act like she was younger again.

There are lots of different bachelorette party ideas that you can use to help give the bride a wonderful time. If you are short on ideas, then just check out my previous article as well, Bachelorette Party Ideas. It’s sure to give you some great ideas and at least help you get started planning the best bachelorette party you can. If you have any ideas of bachelorette parties you’ve attended, or a bachelorette party that was thrown for you, then please write in and let us know.

Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor Weddings 1 Comment »

Outdoor WeddingsI’m not sure why, but over the past month I’ve found myself wanting to write more and more about outdoor weddings. I created a whole new category to the subject of outdoor weddings, and have researched and read nearly everything that I could find on outdoor weddings. From all the work that I have put into the subject, there are (I think anyway) a group of really quality articles that you can use to help plan your outdoor wedding. From deciding if you should even have an outdoor wedding, to tips and ideas for outdoor wedding decorations and receptions, theres a lot of great information in those articles that you can use to help you out.

My sister got married in September, and instead of choosing to have a typical indoor church wedding, she wanted a small and intimate, beautiful outdoor wedding. When she told me about it, at first I was a little skeptical. I have to admit, I had all the same fears for her that would be facing any other couple who was planning an outdoor wedding. I didn’t want her to plan a big beautiful outdoor wedding and then have it rained out, or so hot (in Texas, still very likely) that her guests would be miserable and sweating. But she knew what she was doing, and kept to her plan. In the end I was really impressed with the way that it turned out, and the measures that were taken to make sure that her beautiful and special day stayed beautiful and special.

If you’ve always dreamed of taking your vows in the midst of a beautiful rose garden or against the backdrop of a panoramic view of nature, then let our site help you out with what you need to make it the outdoor wedding you’ve always dreamed of. Take a few minutes and check out the articles in my Outdoor Weddings category, and if there are any topics you’d like covered in more detail, or have any particular questions, then please write in and let me know. I’ll do my best to answer your question. Here is wishing you a beautiful wedding.

Wedding Cake Designs

Wedding Cake 1 Comment »

Wedding Cake DesignsYou’ve got to admit it, cake designers are getting pretty creative these days. Wedding cake designs are not just limited to plain white wedding cakes with white icing flowers and a plain old wedding cake topper on top anymore. No way, wedding cake designs you’ll notice now are showing wedding cakes in all sorts of shapes, designs, colors, and accessories. If you can dream up your ideal wedding cake design, then chances are that some bakery or baker will be able to make it up to your specifications. But, there can be a downside. With so many choices in wedding cake designs, what happens when you just can’t choose the one you want for your wedding, or find that perfect wedding cake design picture that goes along with your dream wedding cake? Here are some basics of wedding cake designs that you’ll need to decide, and other accessories you can use.

Wedding Cake Designs - The Tiers

One of the first things you’ll need to be deciding when talking to your bakery about wedding cake designs in what kind of tiers you want on your wedding cake, how big (in diameter) the tiers should be, and how many tiers you’ll need. The number of guests you are expecting for your wedding is a great indicator on how many tiers and how large each tier should be. Your bakery should be able to tell you approximately how many servings you’ll have with the different number of tiers and the sizes of each tier. Now for what kind of tiers. The two basic kind of tiers you choose from are round tiers or square tiers. Then, if you choose square tiers, you’ll need to decide if you want them all straight, or to have each tier turned for a more funky look. To help you choose your wedding cake designs in this area, your bakery should be able to show you what each wedding cake design would look like.

Wedding Cake Designs - Colors and Flavors

Next, when choosing from the different wedding cake designs, you’ll need to decide what flavor of cake you want, if you want any kind of filling, and what flavor and color you’d like the icing to be. These cake flavors, depending on your bakery of course, can be any flavor that you choose. See my article on White Wedding Cakes to see what I did, and how you can have fun with your wedding cake flavors.

Wedding Cake Designs - Decorations

This is really where bakeries get creative for their wedding cake designs. There are so many different ways to decorate wedding cakes, that I don’t even know if I can cover them all, but I’ll try. You can choose a wedding cake design that is done purely of icing or fondant. Basket weave is a popular decoration for cakes, as well as polka dots or stripes. Also, my bakery used sugar flowers of different colors poked into the icing (see the picture in my Wedding Cake Topper article for a picture of my cake). Or, you can use fresh flowers, ribbon, crystals, or even fake pearls lining each tier. The number of wedding cake designs is limited only to your imagination, so plan away.

There are lots of wedding cake designs to choose from, and it took me long time to find the one I wanted. In fact, I even changed my order a few weeks before the wedding when I found a picture of a wedding cake design that I liked better than the one I had. So take your time, find a wedding cake design that you really love, and enjoy !
