Everyone is shouting these days about the bad economy, and how everyone is nervous to be out there spending money and being extravagant. For the most part, I believe that this is true. But one of the ways I see it, people are still getting married, though they may have smaller and more cost efficient wedding ceremonies and receptions. And because weddings are such a monumental event, a once in a lifetime kind of experience, some couples and parents are even willing to splurge a little bit to make it even more memorable. One of the positives about this economy is that if you’re shopping and planning a honeymoon, you’re sure to find some great honeymoon travel deals. Let me explain.
We’ve all heard the reports that consumer spending is down, and that includes travel along with anything else that consumers regularly spend money on. This means that hotels and cruise lines are empty, and losing money fast. So cruise lines, hotels, and even all inclusive honeymoon locales have been drastically cutting their fees, trying to lure people to their locations. Some resorts are offering discounted rooms along with extra free stuff, such as spa treatments – so it’s worth checking out. So here are some great tips for finding great honeymoon travel deals that will help you save a fortune when it comes to your wedding and honeymoon budget.
The Internet
One of the best places to look, of course, is the Internet. Look up the sites for some of the top cruise lines and other travel sites to see what kinds of discounts and specials they are offering. Just looking at some of the top cruise lines a few moments ago, I found a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas for $159 per person. Count that out to your night, and it’s about $53 per day, with meals included. That’s hard to beat! That’s not even the best I’ve heard. I’ve heard some cruises going for about half of that just to entice consumers to travel. Pretty good for you!
Travel Agency
Another great avenue to look at is your local travel agency. If you’re having trouble finding deals, your local travel agent can tell you what kinds of deals are out there, and what kinds of gifts and free stuff hotels are willing to pitch in for your stay. Don’t automatically rule out a travel agent, they do this for a living, and most people only plan a family vacation once a year or less.
Find Your Resort & Ask!
Perhaps another great method for finding great deals in these bad economic times are just to ask. If you have a specific locale you are wanting to visit, or to stay in a favorite or famous hotel, it never hurts to call and ask. I heard of lots of hotels in various locations around the United States drastically lowering their prices during non-peak times of travel, as well as during this Christmas season.
Check the Flights
Another great place to save when planning your honeymoon vacation is on your airline flights, if you’ll need them. The fact remains that people are spending less money, and the flights are still running, just with less people. You can find some great deals on airline tickets which, in some cases, can end up saving you thousands of dollars.
There are, of course, a few drawbacks when it comes down to choosing some of these fantastic honeymoon travel deals, which is that you have to travel when they say you can travel. What I mean is, such as with cruise lines, if they have a particular cruise that is going out on a particular date, they’re only offering that price on that one particular cruise to try and get more people to buy. So dates could be a problem for you. Another thought is that with so many businesses declaring bankruptcy, you might want to purchase some of that travel insurance just in case. But there are some great honeymoon travel deals you can find if you just put forth a little effort. Happy hunting!
