Gothic Wedding Dresses

Gothic Wedding DressesI have to admit, I’ve been staying away from the subject of Gothic wedding dresses because the thought just made me uncomfortable. I had always pictured Gothic wedding dresses being an un-traditional black, with the bride wearing dark eye make up and and a wicked sense of humor over the whole wedding ceremony. But after doing more and more research, the term gothic wedding dresses isn’t exactly what I had thought it was.  Gothic wedding dresses are usually mideval in design, and not meant to be ghoulish at all. So if you’re looking for a way to be original and really one of a kind, then Gothic wedding dresses may be just perfect for you. But…if Gothic wedding dresses aren’t the wicked kind of black wedding dresses, then what exactly are they? If you want to know what Gothic wedding dresses actually are, as well as if they could be right for you, then let’s check out some of the information I’ve found about them.

What is a Gothic Wedding Dress?

Okay, like I said before, contrary to my prior belief that Gothic wedding dresses were dark and ghoulish, they are actually styled after a more mideval time period, such as the Renaissance.  Gothic wedding dresses are typically known as long and flowing, with a variety of necklines such as the Victorian neckline or any other plunging necklines which you would dare to wear.  Gothic wedding dresses are also typically lavishly designed with either bell shaped, flounced or batwing sleeves, and made from rich and comfortable materials such as velvet, stretch velvet, satin, velour, chiffon fabrics and more. Also, another great feature of Gothic wedding dresses is that they have either a straigt or full skirt, and feature a corseted or laced bodice. These dresses sound just as lovely and flattering as they look, trust me.

Where to Find Gothic Wedding Dresses

If you’ve done any shopping for wedding dresses, you’ve probably noticed that there aren’t very many bridal boutiques that dedicated themselves to these dresses, or supply Gothic wedding dresses at all. So what is a girl to do? The answer is simple, and that is to move your search to the Internet. There are many great websites online tht offer Gothic and other mideval wedding dresses for you to choose from. If that doesn’t work, or you want to know what kind of dresses look good on you, do a search for a storefront location near you, or buy a pattern and have a good friend or family member make it for you. A celtic wedding dress or Renaissance style of wedding dress will typically fit the bill of “Gothic”, and you can find some truly charming and stunning wedding dresses.

Choosing your wedding dress is so important, because it helps to set the tone for your entire wedding day, and you want to look and feel like a princess on your wedding day. But if you’re wanting a wedding dress that is out of the ordinary, and something completely you, then Gothic wedding dresses  may be worth checking into. Gothic wedding dresses come in a variety of styles so you’re sure to find something that will be perfect for you, and just what you’ve been dreaming about. So while Gothic wedding dresses are often pictured as being associated with darkness and magic, but that isn’t a correct depiction of them at all.
