How to Decorate a Church for a Wedding

Your church decorations are an important aspect of your weddings overall appeal to your guests. After all, when your guests are arriving, the first thing that they will see is how you’ve decorated the church. They’ll stare and study everything, to see what kinds of things you’ve done, what kind of detail you put into your decorating. It’s one of the first main impressions of how your guests will view your wedding, so you want to have it done right. So, if you’re planning your wedding, and wondering how to decorate a church for a wedding, then here are a few great tips to help you get started.

Talk to Your Church

One of the first things to do is to have a sit down meeting with any necessary church officials about what kinds of things they won’t permit to have as decorations in the church.

Candles, for example, could be too much of a fire hazard for them for you to use them at all, or they may be used only in specific areas. Also, what kinds of fastening tools (such as tape, nails, pins, etc) you can use should be another question to ask. Another great idea is to ask if they have any kind of wedding decorations on hand that you can use to decorate the building. They’re sure to be able to give you lots of pointers!

Consider Your Wedding

When deciding how to decorate a church for a wedding, you’ll want to consider what kind of wedding you’re going to be having. If you want to have a simple traditional wedding, then you’re most likely not going to spend as much time decorating as someone who is planning, say a cowboy themed wedding or a winter wonderland wedding. If your wedding is going to have any kind of theme, then be sure you incorporate some of that into your church wedding decorations as well.

See What You Have to Work With

I suggest spending some time in the church you’ll be married in, and just take in everything that you have to work with. Look at the kinds of pews you have, how big the altar is, if there are any pretty stained glass windows you want to make a focal point, or anything that you want to cover up. There are lots of great ideas for Pew Decorations, flower arrangements, strings of lights, aisle runners, wedding arches, and much much more with just a little creativity and searching around for great ideas.

When it comes to how to decorate a church for a wedding, every bride is a little bit different in what they think should or shouldn’t need to be done. There are literally thousands of different ways on how to decorate a church for a wedding that it could be a little overwhelming on what you want to do for your wedding. Be sure to do your research, ask to see lots of pictures of different weddings, and find out what you can do easily yourself that will look elegant and perfect for your wedding.
