Make Your Own Thank You Cards

Get Everything You Need to Make Your Own Cards!Okay, I fully admit it, I love to do crafts and create things, so when I was doing my wedding planning, I found plenty of opportunities to make like hand crafted cards and favors for guests. I’ve found that homemade treats and cards are much more charming than purchased cards you can buy in a pack at the grocery store. To me, it cost about the same if not less than buying fancy thank you cards for the wedding, and only took a few minutes. Buy some colored card stock at any craft store that has your wedding colors, and some stamps or other fabric to decorate your cards. Here are just a few of the occasions in which thank you cards are wisely used.

Bridal Showers - Bridal shower thank you notes are essential, not only to the people throwing the event, but also to the guests who have taken of their time and money to help give you a great shower! A bridal shower thank you card should be mailed out as soon after the shower as you can find time. Trust me, if you wait until the last minute you will find yourself overwhelmed with thank you cards and may inadvertantly leave someone out. Write your bridal shower thank you cards while everything is still fresh in your mind.

Rehearsal Dinner – You should pass out your bridal party thank you cards, as well as any others that have worked hard decorating, helping, and just basically for being there for you. Most brides don’t pass out thank you cards to their bridal party (this is where you need to give out your bridal party gifts as well), but remember that they have spent money on their dress, some traveling in from out of town, and all for you!

After the Wedding - According to wedding etiquette, you have a few months to send out your bridal thank you cards. You will definitely want to get these out of the way as soon as possible so it’s not looming over your head the whole time. Your bridal thank you cards can be from either you or you and your husband. Remember, people are more likely to hang on to homemade thank you cards because they can tell you’ve put some effort into it.

Your bridal thank you cards can be or look like anything you like, use your imagination. Plus, with enough card stock you can afford to write that many thank you cards. Above all else, be grateful for what you’ve been given and for the time and money that people have generously given you for the occasion.
