Modest Wedding Dress CharacteristicsThere are literally hundreds of different designs and options for finding the wedding dress that is perfect for you and your wedding. But it seems that most brides tend to use the same style of dress of  strapless wedding dress with a full skirt. There are many brides though who just are not comfortable wearing that kind of style and are looking for a modest wedding dress instead. If you aren’t used to wearing some of the more revealing styles in your day to dress because of a large/smaller bust or if you just like to dress more conservatively, it only stands to reason that you may be more interested in a modest wedding dress than some of the other styles available today. On your wedding day, you need to be comfortable and happy with what you’re wearing. Also, many churches have dress codes on wearing certain wedding dresses which can include making sure the shoulders or arms are covered – forcing some brides to seek out a modest wedding dress. But what makes a modest wedding dress….well…modest? Here are some great modest dress characteristics to help you realize just what you may be looking for.

A Modest Wedding Dress has a Higher Neckline

Many brides are not comfortable wearing certain necklines because they show cleavage or sit low on the chest, which can make you self consious worry about having to adjust the top of your wedding dress constantly. So the simple solution is to find a modest wedding dress with a higher neckline so you won’t have to worry about it. The most common necklines for a most wedding dress can include the bateau neckline, scoop neckline, high neckline, or a square neckline. Also, a V-neck or halter type neckline works great if you are comfortable about how low it sits on your chest. You can always take one of those necklines and have it altered a bit to make it a little higher. These higher styles of necklines can help a modest wedding dress even more classy. Plus, these higher necklines are unique and fun since most brides are choosing the same old strapless wedding gown style.

Covering the Arms in a Modest Wedding Dress

Many brides are self-consious about their arms. While most brides try and lose weight before their big day, many of them aren’t focusing on their arms. So if you want to hide your arms and are looking for a modest wedding dress style that can help you do that, there are a couple for you to choose from. Some wedding dresses are made with full sleeves, but if you’re getting married in the spring or summer it may not be the best idea for you. Check out cap sleeves, petal sleeves are also really pretty. Also, there is an assortment of different sleeves for a modest wedding dress from three quarter length to a t-shirt kind of sleeves, and there’s so many options you can use to put together a great modest wedding dress.

Wanting to have a modest wedding dress doesn’t make you weird or unstylish. There are plenty of styles for a modest wedding dress that are ultra classy and unique if you just look around. Modest dresses are very hard to find in a world that promotes immodesty.

I’ve been looking all over the internet for a semi-modest kind of wedding dress. I do want sleeves and slightly high neckline, but I don’t want it to look too modest that it looks like a shirt. It’s so hard! There are some gorgeous ball gowns that I’d want but then the neckline is waaaay too low and usually are strapless! I feel that a wedding gown shouldn’t be sexy because you are getting married in front of your and his relatives, including his grandma! I want to leave all the imagination up to my fiance for our honeymoon. The funny thing is, there are strapless gowns that can come with deatachable cap sleeves, but they’re so thin and just sheer and I don’t want to feel like I have to pull up my strapless gown all night! I think strapless gowns should be left to prom dresses. I already did it.
