For the most part, big white wedding dresses have been the norm in our culture for generations. Red wedding dresses aren’t exactly what I would call common, I don’t believe I’ve ever been to a wedding where the bride wore all red, but if you’re looking for something that is unique and different from every other bride out there, then a red wedding dress may be worth looking into. Red wedding dresses let you express your bold sense of personal style, but just the thought of getting married in a red wedding dress is enough to make many women nervous about what people will say about it. Personally, I don’t think so. While red wedding dresses may be extremely popular in other countries, and many brides are choosing this bold new style, red wedding dresses have yet to hit the mainstream North American markets in a big way. I will say that red wedding dresses is quickly becoming one of the most popular alternatives to traditional white wedding dresses, but I think that for the most part, a majority of women in the United States still prefer white to red wedding dresses.
Picking out the right wedding dress for you can be an overwhelming task, especially if you want to go with something completely un-traditional and different – such as a red wedding dress, as many brick and mortar stores don’t carry them. While many people aren’t exactly in love with red wedding dresses (myself included – I’m traditional at heart, what can I say?), your choice needs to be yours, for it’s memories are going to be with you forever, even as you grow old.

I read your article about red wedding dresses and I thought I’d comment as I just couldn’t imagine myself in a white one. As I was 30 when I got married and most certainly not a “pure” virgin anymore, I was looking for something else.
The choice of red seemed to surprise (if not shock) some of the older relatives, but as I anticipated this would be the case, I gave them an early warning. I only got positive comments on the actual dress – not that you’d often hear people give negative critique about the dress to the bride at the wedding, anyway. My friends had recently seen some other non-white wedding dresses in action, and apparently my dress convinced them of the “fact” that anything but white looks good in a wedding.
I’ve just found your site and am interested to read more. Thank you for bothering to keep it up!

Were having a Midevil wedding with a modern twist to it and im wearing a red wedding dress my girls are in green and i did all my flowers white so their wouldnt be too much color contrast. I love the idea of a white wedding dress ok im only 25 but we do have 2 kids right now so i agre pure is not what i am lol My family can’t wait to see the dress no one really is oh my god your wearing what attitude. But my family are really open to new concept and ideas and the fact that im not one to follow the trent lol especially a white wedding dress i think white is stupid and gets dirty quick. Back in the day they wore blue wedding dresses hense the idea of you have to wear something blue it was one of the queens that started the trend of a white dress befor that it was any color.
