Did you know that red wedding themes aren’t just for Christmas weddings or weddings around Valentine’s Day? Many brides are under the impression that wedding themes are hard to pull off, or that they are too complicated to be concerned about, and that just isn’t true. Wedding themes actually make your wedding much easier to decorate, and they can be as simple as choosing a color combination and highlighting it throughout your wedding. Red wedding themes are one of the most popular for brides, they are ultra elegant and just a little splash of color can make such a dramatic statement! So if you are thinking about using a red wedding theme for your wedding, here are some great ideas on decorating it.
Red Wedding Themes in What to Wear
If you are looking at red wedding themes and wondering what kinds of stuff to wear, there are several options you can use. Of course, it goes without saying to look for red dresses for your bridesmaids to wear.
One popular trend these days is for the bride to wear a splash of color on her wedding dress to match her bridesmaids, and if you want to follow this trend, add a red sash or lining to your wedding dress. Just a bit of red against which creates an elegant and dramatic effect for red wedding themes. For your groom and groomsmen, you don’t want them looking like they are on their way to prom or a choir concert – so stay away from cummerbunds! For red wedding themes, go with a red jacket and bow tie, and use red roses or other types of flowers for the lapel.
Wedding Decorations for Red Wedding Themes
The first place you need to start with decorating any wedding is with your linens. One of the best combinations for red wedding themes is a bright white tablecloth with red napkins. Once you have your linens taken over, you can start moving to your wedding centerpieces. A classic look is always red roses, but if you’d rather something else, there are many other options available for red wedding themes. You an create a vibrant centerpiece by creating a red topiary made from silk flowers, folded ribbon, or red and white material. Other items that go great with red wedding themes are apples, cherries, lady bugs, red butterflies and even peppers. A rich red coloring will give a beautiful contrast to a traditional white or cream motif, and you just can’t go wrong.
Wedding Favors for Red Wedding Themes
Look for ways to incorporate red items to play on your red wedding theme, and you really do have a lot of options. If you are using boxes or bags for your wedding favors, add a small silk flower bud to to box, or red stickers. One favorite option for red wedding themes is to buy plastic champagne glasses and fill them with red candies, such as red cinnamon hearts. Or, let each guest take home a red rose from your wedding centerpiece. Other great options for red wedding themes are bright red apples with tags around the stem, giant red lollipops, Hershey’s Kisses wrapped in red foil, or mulberry scented candles.
As I mentioned above, red wedding themes are most popular in the winter months, particularly around Christmas or Valentine’s Day, but many brides don’t even consider that red wedding themes can be done year round for an elegant and sophisticated impression. So if you are planning a wedding with a red wedding theme, or have been to one in the past and would like to share your ideas, please comment in and let me know!r

I got married this year in May and wore a full red wedding dress. It was the best thing I ever did and my day was like a fairytale. PERFECT. Everyone commented how stunning I looked and what a nice change for the bride to be different and stand out from the usual colour of wedding dresses. Feel free to contact me for info and photos of my special day, I would love to encourage someone to have the confidence to be different.

Red in conjunction with other colors can make a really great modern wedding theme. When choosing the complimentary colors, starker colors work best. For instance, vermilion and black, maroon and forest green, scarlet and cream.

Nicol,
I am planning to wear red for my wedding. I’m having trouble deciding on the flowers for my bouquet. My BM will be wearing black and I really want them to carry red roses. I would love some help!

Hi Nicol! I am so excited to see someone else who is bold enough to wear red on her wedding day! I tried on several of dresses and have looked at thousands! I thought a lot of them were pretty…but nothing stood out to me until I saw a red dress in a bridal magazine! Some of the more upscale shops missed out on a great sale because it seemed they were a little judgemental when I asked if they had ANY red dresses. I had SOOO much trouble finding one. I ended up finding a dress I felt like a princess in and it was white…but I was able to ask the store clerk to contact the manufacture and they said they would make it in red! I haven’t seen it yet. I ordered and paid for it in full! I was just so sure it would be perfect. It should be in by Dec 15th and I cannot wait! Would you be kind enough to send me pics of your wedding? I’d love to get any ideas I can. I’m paying for this all by myself so cheap ideas are welcomed. My girls will wear black and I’m thinking all white cala lillies for all of us?? Not sure. It’ll be at night by candle light and under a gazebo. We’re thinking of dancing to that song “Lady In Red. lol I look forward to hearing from you. Oh where did you go for your honeymoon?

Hi there lady in red
Well done for taking the plunge and having the guts to go red. It is so
worth being different and my husband loved it. Bridesmaids had black dresses
but their shoes were dyed red just to keep the theme going especially with
them carrying red roses. White calla lilies are gorgeous as I had some in my
bouquet and they last well. I wore a tiara but no veil and bridesmaids just
had their hair put up. Their dresses came with a small diamante broach so
they just wore small diamante pendant necklace. Mark my husband had red
cravat to match my dress and the rest of the men wore black cravats.
We made our own invitations, order of service and thank you cards which
worked out really cheap.
Sounds lovely getting married at night by candle light, very romantic and we
had “lady in red” on our DVD. When is your big day?
Iv attached some photos I can send more if you like. Iv also copied a web
link below of a DVD trailer of our wedding.
Please keep in touch Id love to know more your plans and don’t be afraid to
ask about anything else.
Just to finish off we went to Tanzania on safari for our honeymoon.
