Invitation Wording for a Shower

Bridal Showers No Comments »

Invitation Wording for a ShowerMy sister is going through this right now, and it seems to be driving her crazy. She is planning a bridal shower for a good friend of hers from college who is getting married next month. Katie, my sister, wants to create a bridal shower invitation that will sound and look cute, and be something memorable for her friend to hang on to in the future, but is having trouble coming up with ideas. This really does happen a lot. Sometimes its hard finding the perfect invitation working for a shower, when you want to come up with something cute and your mind just sort of hits a brick wall so to speak. So, if you are planning a bridal shower, and need help with the invitation wording for your bridal shower, here are some great commonly used verses and poems to help you get started.

  • John and Jane will soon have a wedding /Down the aisle is where they’re heading /Before they become husband and wife /Let’s shower them with things for their new life
  • Jane’s wedding is only days away/Let’s help her relax before the big day
  • They’ve bought the dress and ordered the cake /They’re anxious about the vows they’ll make /To help pass the time and shorten the wait /We’re having a shower and here is the date.
  • Jane is getting married/Who would have thought?/Lets throw her a party/Before she ties the knot!
  • Jane’s wedding is on the way/Let’s get her prepared for the big day!
  • Jane’s all grown up/And giggling with glee/Please join us to honor/our sweet bride-to-be!

Of course, with any invitation wording for a shower, you will want to be sure to include the place, time and day, along with RSVP information. If you are having a couples shower, then your invitation wording for the shower needs to somehow indicate that it is for couples, and if a meal or snacks are being served. Invitation wording for showers should not be the most difficult part of planning a bridal shower for your friend, so take a deep breath, and remember to have fun with it. Should my Maid of Honor Look Different?

Bridal Party No Comments »

Should My Maid of Honor Look Different?Your maid of honor is typically a sister or best friend from ages past. She is there to help you throughout your wedding planning process, throwing bridal showers, bachelorette parties, writing a maid of honor speech, along with a host of other responsibilities she will be put through during the time before, during, and even after the wedding takes place. Check out the full detail of the duties of the maid of honor. It is only fitting, that with all you will be putting your maid of honor through, that she should stand out a bit from the rest of your wedding party. There are several ways to accomplish this, and you can use any one of them to help set your maid of honor out from the pack.

Change Up the Dress

If you’ve read my article about All Different Bridesmaid Dresses, then you already know that while many brides today are choosing to let their bridesmaids choose their own style of dress, many brides are still opting to have all of their bridesmaids look the same. If you are choosing to have your bridesmaids all the same, then add something to the maid of honor’s dress to help set her apart from the others. For example, if your colors are pink and brown, and you want to have brown bridesmaid dresses (a beautiful choice by the way), then add a pink sash to the maid of honor’s dress. Giving her a completely different style of dress when all the other bridesmaids have the same dress will be distracting, your guests will wonder why she is the only different one there.

Add to the Bouquet

When I was a maid of honor for my best friend in college, she gave me a larger bouquet than the other bridesmaids. It’s a great way to set apart your maid of honor. Either give her a slightly larger bouquet, or add some different types of flowers than what the rest of the girls have in theirs. Be careful with this one though, to make sure that all of the bouquets will still match in the end.

Other Ideas

One thing my sister did for her maid of honor was to let her wear flowers in her hair. It wasn’t something done for the rest of the bridesmaids, and it really helped set her apart. You could also give her something different to hold her bouquet with. For example, if you have ribbons tying off the bouquets for your bridesmaids, then design one especially for her that is perhaps a little longer, or done with a different type of ribbon.

Whatever you do, treat your maid of honor well. She is taking extra time away from her own busy life to be with you and help you out, typically much more time than your other bridesmaids will be. Be sure to give her the honor due, not only as a thank you for all the hard work that she has helped you with in planning your wedding, but also to make sure that you will be as close of friends as you were before the wedding once all your wedding stuff is complete.

Bridal Shower Cakes

Bridal Showers 2 Comments »

Bridal Shower CakesWhile bridal showers have evolved by means of fun new games, themes, and even the possibility of co-ed bridal showers, one thing hasn’t changed, and that is the bridal shower cake. Of course, you need to have other bridal shower snacks as well as the cake, but the bridal shower cake remains unchanged. If you are throwing a bridal shower for a dear friend or family member, be sure not to let the bridal shower cake slip your mind. If you’re like me, I don’t like many kinds of cakes, and so the cake is really the last thing to enter my mind. If the bride is that way as well, not too excited about having cake, or it just doesn’t fit in very well with your theme, then there are always variations of bridal shower cakes that you can use or make yourself, and here are some of my favorites ideas for doing just that.

Great Bridal Shower Games

Find Some Great Games for Your Bridal Shower! There is nothing quite like a bridal shower, having a group of ladies close to the bride all together at once celebrating an upcoming wedding, and the games you play at the bridal shower will help make everything more memorable for everyone involved. Having a list of bridal shower prepared will help everything to go smoothly. Be sure to keep in mind that there is no rule stating that you must have games at your bridal shower, but it will help your guests relax and start interacting if they are not already friends. There are bridal shower games for every age group, from the tame to the wild, and the game possibilities are practically endless. Here are some of my favorite games played at bridal showers. What are the Duties of the Maid of Honor?

Bridal Party 2 Comments »

Believe it or not, choosing your Maid of Honor and bridesmaids can be more complicated and difficult than you might think. Asking a dear friend or family member is a special honor, and it comes with a certain amount of responsibility, one that some may not be able to handle. The maid of honor is the head, chief, and main personal attendant of the bride for her wedding and wedding day. Therefore the maid of honor dress is typically slightly different from the rest of the wedding party, as is the maid of honor bouquet. Specifically, she is the primary attendant with the most honors and duties of the bridal party, and is considered the equivalent of the groom’s best man. They also have many responsibilities in this role that they may or may not realize. While each wedding and bride are different, the tasks will vary from wedding to wedding, but the basic tasks of the maid of honor are listed below.

Assistance with General Decision Making

While the bride and groom are responsible for making the majority of the important decisions regarding the wedding, the maid of honor is there to give opinions, offer support, and lend a hand wherever and whenever needed. This does not mean that she should stay glued to your hip from engagement to wedding! Phone conversations, email, and brainstorming girl’s nights are a great way to get another viewpoint without ruling your maid of honor’s life.
