Have you ever been to a wedding where they have those chocolate dipped tuxedo strawberries? If you haven’t seen them in a wedding on a groom’s cake, then you’ve probably seen pictures of these cute dressed up chocolate dipped tuxedo strawberries. Just yesterday my own dad (who notices nothing about weddings), was telling me about a groom’s cake that had a little chocolate dipped bride and groom, surrounded by chocolate dipped strawberries matching the groomsmen and bridesmaids (in their colored bridesmaid dress as well, totally cute idea! So I started thinking about just how easy it can be to make your own little chocolate dipped tuxedo strawberries for your wedding! The instructions were ultra easy to find, and you’ll be surprised about how simple making these little guys can be.

Ingredients to  Make Chocolate Dipped Tuxedo Strawberries

First of all, of course, you’re going to need some large strawberries that are in good shape that still have the leaves and stems attached.

Dogs in Weddings

Miscellaneous No Comments »

Dogs in WeddingsHave you ever been to a wedding where the bride and groom decided that they wanted their pets to join them at the altar? We saw it in Lady and the Tramp, of course, but just how popular are putting dogs in weddings anyway? I’ve never been to a wedding where the bride and groom included their pets in their wedding, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll never come across it. I won’t go as far as to say that it’s a hot new trend in weddings because it isn’t really, but it is popular among dog lovers. The fact is, lots of people are choosing to give their dogs a job in their wedding, or a place in their wedding party. Not everyone who puts dogs in weddings is the crazy kind of dog lover, but someone who just doesn’t feel right kenneling a member of the family for such an important event. There are several kinds of jobs that you can consider for putting dogs in weddings, but these jobs aren’t the only places where you can use your animals, just a great place to start.

Wedding Cake Toppers

Wedding Cake 2 Comments »

Wedding Cake ToppersWhen most people think about wedding cake toppers, they think about that little plastic figurines of a bride and groom all dressed up and standing together on top of a wedding cake. This miniature couple is typically standing hand in hand, or perhaps arm in arm. In fact, up until just a few years ago, wedding cakes just didn’t look like wedding cakes without that miniature plastic couple. Luckily, that just isn’t the case anymore. Now, wedding cake toppers come in all kinds of designs, colors, materials, and can be personalized to fit anything you want for your wedding. The last thing that I wanted for my wedding cake was to have it be plain white with that tiny plastic couple on top. Here are some great ideas for personalized wedding cake toppers, as well as why couples would want a wedding cake topper in the first place.

Why Use Wedding Cake Toppers?

Wedding cake toppers are a great way to personalize your wedding cake. It seems a little crazy to say, but wedding cake toppers can add some fun and excitement to any kind of wedding cake.

Wedding Cake Topper

Wedding Cake No Comments »

Wedding Cake TopperRemember the old fashioned wedding cake topper that consisted of a little plastic miniature of a bride and groom on top of an all white cake? The little bride and groom may have been under a little arch or just standing by themselves. Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of wedding cake topper actually used in a wedding, but then again, that could just be me. Brides today are going for different, unique and something different than what their parents and grandparents have done for years. Wedding cake toppers are a great way to add some extra style and grace to your wedding cake. There are many different kinds of wedding cake toppers you can choose from, and here are some great ideas of some popular choices today.

Fresh Flowers

Flowers are always a popular choice for wedding cakes. They add grace and beauty to your wedding cake as well as having the added benefit of giving off a bit of color to match your other wedding colors. Fresh flowers are something you can work out with your florist to handle. You can have flowers on top of your cake as well as cascading down the side, or placed on each layer of your wedding cake. The choices are endless, and if you want to go this way, talk to your florist and bakery, and they will have plenty of ideas of what you can do, and what they have done in the past.

Your New Monogram

This is something that my husband and I used on our wedding cake. I visited several sites on the Internet and ordered letters to create our new families monogram. Then, it was very simple to just push it down into the cake, and the effects were beautiful. The only thing you need to consider here is how wide the letters are, and the circumference of the top layer of your cake. If you look at the picture above, that is a picture of our wedding cake, and what the monogram looks like on the cake.

Miscellaneous

One thing that brides love to do today is to make everything unique to them. I’ve seen firefighter brides stick small fire engines on their wedding cake, and I’ve even seen fruit used as wedding cake toppers as well. Colored leaves for fall, plastic cranberries and pine cones for a Christmas wedding, and even a small cowboy hat for a cowboy wedding.

Wedding cake toppers are beautiful, and they really add a lot to your wedding cake. Many people today are also choosing not to have a wedding cake topper at all. Depending on the kind of wedding cake that you choose, you may not need a wedding cake topper. See my article on Wedding Cake Designs or check out Wedding Cake Toppers for other ways you can decorate your wedding cake. Consider your wedding cake, your tastes, and what you love before making your decision. As always, if you need more information or advice, feel free to comment and let me know!

Best Man Speeches and Toasts

Bridal Party 1 Comment »

Best Man SpeechesAs one of my readers pointed out to me recently in my article entitled What are the Duties of the Best Man, I inadvertently left out the speech, or toast the best man is expected to make at the reception. Speeches are not usually something that something that people look forward to writing, much less presenting. I remember the dreaded speech classes in high school and college. Stage fright is something that everyone feels, butterflies in the stomach, cold sweats, shaky hands, we’ve all been there. Add to that that you’re at your best friends wedding and expected to give a heartfelt speech is even worse. The fear of bombing it and having all your friends and perhaps family there to witness it could be nearly too much to bear. So, here are some great tips you can use to help you get started when writing your best man toast.

What are the Duties of the Maid of Honor?

Bridal Party 2 Comments »

Believe it or not, choosing your Maid of Honor and bridesmaids can be more complicated and difficult than you might think. Asking a dear friend or family member is a special honor, and it comes with a certain amount of responsibility, one that some may not be able to handle. The maid of honor is the head, chief, and main personal attendant of the bride for her wedding and wedding day. Therefore the maid of honor dress is typically slightly different from the rest of the wedding party, as is the maid of honor bouquet. Specifically, she is the primary attendant with the most honors and duties of the bridal party, and is considered the equivalent of the groom’s best man. They also have many responsibilities in this role that they may or may not realize. While each wedding and bride are different, the tasks will vary from wedding to wedding, but the basic tasks of the maid of honor are listed below.

Assistance with General Decision Making

While the bride and groom are responsible for making the majority of the important decisions regarding the wedding, the maid of honor is there to give opinions, offer support, and lend a hand wherever and whenever needed. This does not mean that she should stay glued to your hip from engagement to wedding! Phone conversations, email, and brainstorming girl’s nights are a great way to get another viewpoint without ruling your maid of honor’s life.
