Don’t be a Bridezilla!

Miscellaneous No Comments »

Don’t be a BridezillaPersonally, I don’t have cable, and so I’ve never seen that show about brides planning their wedding who turn into a real Bridezilla. I have heard about it though, brides seemingly going crazy and yelling and people, turning into a real banshee before the wedding. Personally, I am very laid back, and really worry about becoming a Bridezilla. In fact, when I was planning my wedding, I had heard the term bridezilla, but didn’t really know what it meant. So, here is what a bridezilla is, for those of you who don’t know, and some great ways on how to avoid becoming a bridezilla.

What is a Bridezilla?

A bridezilla is an engaged woman who is so stressed out planning her wedding that she makes everyone around her miserable. She is obsessed with making her wedding day as perfect as possible, and will bully vendors, friends, her fiance and even members of her own family into doing what she wants. A bridezilla is inconsiderate of other people’s lives and feelings, and puts unreasonable expectations on everyone involved with the wedding planning details. She can make everyone around her so miserable, that in some cases, she ends up standing alone at the altar. Making your friends and family miserable before and during your wedding is no way to remember your special day. Here are some great ways to protect yourself from becoming a bridezilla.

Tips to Avoid Being a Bridezilla

  • You know your own personality better than anyone, if you know that you have the tendencies to become a bridezilla, then you may want to look at hiring someone like a wedding planner to deal with a lot of the stresses of planning a wedding.
  • Be sure to focus on the big picture and try to avoid getting caught up in worrying about every single little detail of the wedding. Remember that you are starting a new life with your true love, and this wedding is celebrating the love and commitment you have towards each other.
  • Find a harmless way to vent (I took up running every day) or take a break from your wedding planning by spending time with friends.
  • Keep a sense of humor.

I can totally understand wanting your wedding day to be perfect. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. There is no doubt that wedding planning can be a stressful experience for anyone. Trust me, there is something that goes wrong in every wedding. I forgot to think about plates for the cake table, and we had to wait for my aunt to run to pick some up before we could cut our cake. My sister had a groomsman that didn’t show up. Just remember to keep your sense of humor and focus in the right place, and you’ll be all right.
