This recipe has been modified for 100 servings, you may need to modify it again for as many servings as you will need to cover all of your guests.

Ingredients :

• 4 – 1/3 cups white sugar
• 2 – 3/4 cups and 3 tablespoons powered non-dairy creamer
• 2 – 3/4 cups and 3 tablespoons dry milk powder
• 2 cups and 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions :

1. In a blender or food processor, combine sugar, powdered creamer, milk powder and cocoa powder. Mix well and store in an airtight container
2. To serve, put 2 to 3 tablespoons of powder in a mug, fill with hot water and stir.

A great way to package this is with small jars such as baby food jars or some other smaller jar. Peel off the labels (if there is one), and cover the lids with cloth which can be hot glued underneath the lid. Make a tag with serving directions or even the recipe, and tie it around the neck of the jar. Now you have a great homemade wedding favor which your guests can enjoy for time to come. Another idea of making this wedding favor is to fill the jar halfway with hot chocolate mix, and fill it up the rest of the way with marshmallows for your guest’s hot chocolate favors.

Make Your Own Hot Chocolate Wedding Favors

1. Hot Chocolate/Apple Cider Mixes - Hot chocolate and apple cider are a comforting winter favorite. A mix is easy to make, or you can just buy the mix premade at a grocery store and separate it out into individual portions. You can wrap enough for a single portion in cellaphane, and then look on the internet for some wholesale wedding favor mugs with your names and wedding date or other message. Another idea is to make the mix and separate it out into individual glass containers with a cork, tie ribbons around the neck of the bottle with mixing instructions as well as a wedding message. 2. Christmas Ornaments - Clear glass Christmas ornaments can be bought by the pack at many stores in the fall and winter season, to be filled with whatever you like, and you can use these as homemade wedding favors as well. Small rose buds, plastic or dried berries, and other festive fillers will add some great color to your tables. You can also make a printout of your names and wedding date, and include it on the inside of the clear ornament, pressed up against one of the sides. Then simply tie a ribbon with your colors around the top.

3. Christmas Candy - There are many kinds of candy which are only available during the Christmas season. Candy canes, chocolate oranges, among a few are another idea for a unique wedding favor. They can be wrapped with ribbons and a romantic verse, or use your names and the wedding date. You can scatter miniature candy canes on the table for snacking and to add some color and decoration, as well as some small treat at each place setting.

4. Christmas Stockings - You can buy sets of plain miniature Christmas stockings at craft stores at a low cost and use glitter glue to write each guest’s name. Fill the stockings with an assortment of things, such as candies, gum, peppermint sticks or other stick candy, oranges (a historic favorite), and thank you cards for their attendance are just a few ideas. Drape them across the side of each chair as a place setting. The filling options are endless, use your imagination.

5. Christmas Cookies/Gingerbread Men - Make some sugar cookies and use cookie cutters in shapes of Christmas trees, stockings or Santa’s, and sprinkle with festive colored sugar or sprinkles. Or, if you prefer, you can also make gingerbread men, and have your family and friends over before the wedding for a decorating party. They make a great personalized wedding favor. Leave one at each place setting as an after dinner treat.

6. Christmas Candles/Other Potpourri – There is nothing like the smells of Christmas. Find some scented candles or potpourri with any of your favorite Christmas scents, such as cinnamon, apple cider, cranberries, peppermint, gingerbread, pecan pie, orange spice, and pine, just to name a few. You can buy your favorite, or choose from an assortment to give your reception a wonderful smell!

Make Your Own Christmas Wedding Favors

Wedding favors are a great way to show your guests that you appreciate them being there for you on your special day! You can always find cheap wedding favors on the internet which will take practically no time to put together, but homemade wedding favors are much more charming and more likely not to be thrown away immeadiately after the wedding. Most people complain that they just don’t have enough time or don’t like crafts but whatever the argument, there are wedding favors which can be made in just a few minutes which can really show your guests that you care.

1. Candle Wedding Favors

Candles are not that hard to make, you can find directions in any craft store. Melt the beeswax (it takes like a minute in the microwave), add a wick and pour into the container or mold of your choice. You can even add coloring and scents to make it a more personalized wedding favor. If your theme is a beach wedding, pour the beeswax into empty shells, its a great effect. If thats a little too crafty for you, buy some candles already made in a color that matches your wedding and a scent that you like, wrap them up with some tulle tied with a ribbon.

2. Chocolate Wedding Favors

Who doesn’t like chocolate? Find yourself a recipe for chocolate or melt chocolate if you’re not a cook, then pour into a cute mold (also available at craft stores), freeze for a few minutes and you have your own homemade chocolate wedding favors to fit your wedding theme. You can also buy lollipop sticks and make chocolate lollipops which look great wrapped in cellaphane and ribbon. If you’re really crafty, use different colors in the mold to make your treat stand out! If you’re not so crafty or are running short on time, buy giant candy bars, take off the outside wrapper, and print up your own on the computer as a place card or write a romantic quote, your names and wedding date, whatever you want.

3. Flower Seed Wedding Favors

Seed packets are starting to be a very popular wedding favor. Visit your local gardening store and see what you can find. Most seeds can be bought in bulk relatively cheaply. Choose something that is native to the area where you are getting married so that people can actually plant them. Wildflowers or forget-me-nots are popular, but you can also go with others like hot pepper seeds, carrot, watermelon, strawberry, lavender, mint, basil or sage. It all depends on your theme! They can be wrapped up anyway you choose, though they look great through small glass jars. Be sure to make a tag with these favors telling the guest what kinds of seeds they are and care tips.

4. Potpourri Satchets

Believe it or not, potpourri can be bought in bulk on the internet, scented or unscented, and it makes a great wedding favor. Choose a scent and color that you like, and it looks (and smells) great in a drawstring bag or small lace satchet. If you’re crafty sew up some little bags by sewing three sides, adding the potpourri, then sewing the fourth side. Attach a silk or plastic flower and you’ve got something someone will want to hang on to for a while. If you’re not very crafty then just wrap them in cellaphane, which is still pretty, or in a drawstring bag, add a flower or tag and you’re done!

Make Your Own Wedding Favors

When considering homemade wedding favors, homemade candies or treats wrapped in tulle or some other kind of tin wrapped with a ribbon are usually charming. There are many kinds of molds for making candy, and you should find one that goes with the theme of your wedding for a more unique wedding favor. If the reception is to be a dinner, after dinner mints are a great alternative. If you are not very crafty, there are many types of wholesale wedding favors containers that can be purchased cheaply over the Internet.

Another kind of unique wedding favors are candles. A candle wedding favor does not require much skill, and you can easily create a unique wedding favor that your guests will treasure for time to come. One great idea is to decorate store bought candles using dried flowers and leaves. To make this candle wedding favor, simply apply modge podge to the back of a dried flower or leaf and press onto store bought candles. Create a pattern with leaves and flowers, then remove any of the excess glue with a paper towel. Once glue is dry, you can dip the candle into a melted jar of perra wax and allow to dry. Once completed, you can wrap the candle wedding favors in tulle and tie with a ribbon for an attractive and unique wedding favor.

Another idea for a unique wedding favor is a burned CD with some favorite songs of the bride and groom. It is relatively easy to create a special label for the CD, and CD envelopes can be purchased and decorated relatively cheaply.

If you are serving wine at your reception, you can also create wine wedding favors. Wine glass charms can be made easily with just a coil of wire, and then various beads and charms which can be picked up at any craft store. You can also put each guests name on the charm for a more personalized wedding favor, and what a great way to easily tell their glasses apart!

Remember that just because you can make cheap wedding favors does not mean that they have to look cheap. Using ribbon, tulle, artifical flowers, and other decorations, you can create personalized wedding favors that are unique to the bride and groom.
