Just a few days ago, I posted an article about choosing trendy wedding colors. One of those colors that I mentioned was the color brown, and what a role it has played in weddings for the last few years. In the past, brown was mostly thought of as a cooler color and many experts advised that brown be kept to colder seasons, such as autumn and winter. That isn’t the case anymore. Softer, warmer colors such as pinks, blues and purples compliment the color brown and make for a really popular choice for spring and summer weddings as well. But what if you don’t like these colors, and would rather have brown and champagne wedding colors? Then, instead of a warm and cool color combination, you have two cooler colors that look great together. These days, brown and champagne wedding colors can be used for any season. So, if you are having brown and champagne wedding colors, here are some great ways to incorporate them into your wedding decor.

Brown and Champagne Bridesmaid Dresses

Many wedding boutiques have caught onto the popularity of brown and champagne wedding colors, and are making some beautiful bridesmaid dresses to go along with this theme. You can find some truly elegant champagne colored dresses with a brown sash to compliment. Pair some light hued flowers, and you’ve got bridesmaids that will perfectly match your wedding colors.

Choose wedding decorations that are white with black accents, and you’ll find that this classic color combination will add so much elegance to your wedding that people will be talking long after it’s all over.

Various Shades of Pink

Pink is another widely popular choice for wedding colors. I mentioned pink and brown above, but pink lends itself well to many other color combinations that can make for a really beautiful wedding. Remember the old fashioned wedding cake topper that consisted of a little plastic miniature of a bride and groom on top of an all white cake? The little bride and groom may have been under a little arch or just standing by themselves. Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind of wedding cake topper actually used in a wedding, but then again, that could just be me. Brides today are going for different, unique and something different than what their parents and grandparents have done for years. Wedding cake toppers are a great way to add some extra style and grace to your wedding cake. There are many different kinds of wedding cake toppers you can choose from, and here are some great ideas of some popular choices today.

Fresh Flowers

Flowers are always a popular choice for wedding cakes. They add grace and beauty to your wedding cake as well as having the added benefit of giving off a bit of color to match your other wedding colors. Fresh flowers are something you can work out with your florist to handle. You can have flowers on top of your cake as well as cascading down the side, or placed on each layer of your wedding cake. The choices are endless, and if you want to go this way, talk to your florist and bakery, and they will have plenty of ideas of what you can do, and what they have done in the past.

Your New Monogram

This is something that my husband and I used on our wedding cake. I visited several sites on the Internet and ordered letters to create our new families monogram. Then, it was very simple to just push it down into the cake, and the effects were beautiful. The only thing you need to consider here is how wide the letters are, and the circumference of the top layer of your cake. If you look at the picture above, that is a picture of our wedding cake, and what the monogram looks like on the cake.

Miscellaneous

One thing that brides love to do today is to make everything unique to them. I’ve seen firefighter brides stick small fire engines on their wedding cake, and I’ve even seen fruit used as wedding cake toppers as well. Colored leaves for fall, plastic cranberries and pine cones for a Christmas wedding, and even a small cowboy hat for a cowboy wedding.

Wedding cake toppers are beautiful, and they really add a lot to your wedding cake. Many people today are also choosing not to have a wedding cake topper at all. Depending on the kind of wedding cake that you choose, you may not need a wedding cake topper. Okay, before I start, I had a totally hard time choosing my wedding colors, and looking back, I may have chosen another color or even a combination of colors to give my bridesmaids and decorations a little bit of a break to make it easier to match everything. For my spring wedding, I wanted my colors to be something bright and cheery, but also didn’t want my bridesmaids to hate me and hate the dress (I choose peach by the way).
