Winter Wedding Ideas - Part 2As previously promised, here is the second half to my series on cool and unique winter wedding ideas. If you missed out on part one, then just check it out right here, Winter Wedding Ideas Part 1. While winter isn’t a hugely popular time to get married, many couples still choose this colder season for their weddings. The colder season offers more dramatic colors, and winter weddings can be just as romantic and elegant as weddings done in the spring and summer months. But, back to the subject. In my previous article, I only covered some winter wedding ideas for weddings in the areas of some great winter colors to use in your wedding, and some great winter wedding centerpieces. Now we all know that so much more goes into wedding planning than just colors and centerpieces, so here are some more great winter wedding ideas that you can use when planning your big event.

Winter Wedding Ideas – Church Decorations

My last article has a lot of great ideas for winter wedding church decorations, but I’ll go ahead and recap it here to make it easier. A friend of mine got married a few years ago and had a winter wonderland wedding, complete with snowmen, reindeer, and lots and lots of fake snow. Use the white sheets for covering large areas on the platform, and then cover with white confetti to give off a sparkle like snow, and (with the church’s permission), spray the fake snow into the windows to help complete the look. She also used plain white Christmas lights around the church to give off a romantic glow and sparkle, and added some great characters to her winter wonderland scene, such as the snowman and reindeer. Then, she dressed up her flower girls as sugar plum fairies, and it turned out really beautiful.

Winter Wedding Ideas – Wedding Favors

Winter wedding ideas for wedding favors can be endless, as there are many things that go along with the winter season. You could pass out hot chocolate and spiced cider packets in a mug for your guests to enjoy when you get home, or you can make the mixes yourself, I have the recipes under my wedding favors category, and here are the links : Make Your Own Hot Chocolate Wedding Favors and Make Your Own Apple Cider Wedding Favors. Other great winter wedding favors can include scarves, hats or gloves (though this may get a bit pricey), or even other little edible treats such as gingerbread men (see my article on Gingerbread Men Wedding Favors), or other cookie treats. I’ve even seen couples pass out large jingle bells for the couple to ring on their way out the door, with a small tag that reads, “Lets you and me make beautiful music together!” Get creative with this and have some fun.

Winter is really a fun season for couples to get married. There are lots of fun ideas, and with the cold weather, you can create a really cozy feel to your wedding, making it more romantic. Happy wedding planning.

Winter Wedding Ideas for Church Decorations

Church Decorations, Winter Weddings 2 Comments »

Winter Wedding Ideas for Church DecorationsA good friend of mine at our church got married a few years ago in January, and she chose to use a winter wonderland theme for her wedding. Now, while I was not able to attend the ceremony due to a prior engagement, I have heard a lot about it, and have even seen numerous pictures of how they transformed our tiny country church into a beautiful winter wonderland. The wedding reception was absolutely beautiful, and I know that it was done on a budget. Winter wonderland themes for weddings are really very popular, and can be totally different from weddings with a Christmas theme. In fact, I have decided to start a whole series on winter weddings, since there really isn’t that much information that you can find about it. See my previous article, Winter Wedding Ideas Part 1, or just check out everything in my winter weddings articles by looking at the Winter Weddings category. But, to get on with the article, this is just to help give you an idea of what to use for winter wedding ideas for church decorations, here are some great ideas to help you get started with the creativity.

Winter Wedding Ideas with Fake Snow

You just can’t have a winter wedding without some kind of fake snow. Even if you are like us here in Texas and almost never see snow, a winter wonderland wedding just isn’t the same without snow. So, a great idea for church decorations in a winter wedding is to use fake snow, which comes several different ways. One way that you can find fake snow is to buy the packages of white cloth sheets which are made to look like snow. Lay it out around the platform and in window sills. Then sprinkle snowflake confetti or other shiny confetti over the fake snow to help it glow. Another great idea for using fake snow in a winter wonderland wedding is to get the spray and spray at the corners and edges of windows (might want to get permission for this before spraying). This will help give the feel of a beautiful outdoor winter wonderland wedding.

Winter Wedding Ideas with Christmas Lights

Despite popular belief that Christmas lights can only be used in Christmas weddings, its wrong. I happen to think that beautiful white twinkly Christmas lights can help give off a beautiful glow and romantic feel to a winter wonderland wedding. Wrap some trees with lights and sprinkle fake snow on some trees, or drape the lights around the room and you’ll find that the effects are beautiful.

Winter Wedding Ideas with Characters

One thing that my friend did in her winter wonderland wedding was to add some characters. For example, some wooden reindeer and other animals up on the platform really helped make the church platform look like a winter wonderland. Then, she had several flower girls (6 or more I believe) , and the dresses that they wore dressed them up like beautiful little sugar plum fairies complete with the wings. Also, snowmen and other fun characters can be added into your winter wonderland theme to help complete the look.

There are so many different winter wedding ideas that you can use to decorate your church with. If anyone has any other questions, or need some more ideas to help them get started, don’t hesitate to write and ask, I’ve seen lots of winter weddings and can help with ideas. Also, if you had a winter wonderland wedding and would like to share something special that you did and really loved, please let us know!

Winter Wedding Ideas - Part 1With the Christmas season now passed, many couples are looking around for some great winter wedding ideas. Winter can be a beautiful time of the year to get married, and winter weddings are just as beautiful and romantic as spring and summer weddings. One thing you’ll find in winter weddings, is that unlike the typical Christmas weddings, winter weddings do not usually include Christmas trees or anything like that, but instead, incorporate other of their favorite parts of the winter season. So if you are looking at planning a winter wedding, and need some winter wedding ideas, here are some great ideas and tips to get you going. In fact, there are so many different winter wedding ideas that I have decided to split this subject up into a small series, to be able to cover everything that I want to without creating a huge article. So here we go.

Winter Wedding Ideas – Colors

There are plenty of colors that go perfectly well with winter weddings, so don’t think that you are limited to only red and green. Perhaps to most popular winter wedding colors are a darker and rich colors such as burgandy, cranberry, or hunter green. But don’t assume that your colors are limited to darker colors either. There are many light colored, shimmery colors that will be perfect in a winter wedding such as a shimmery blue or silver. But don’t forget that the winter season hosts the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day. What a great day and time to celebrate the love that you have for each other. If you choose to have a Valentines themed wedding, then you may want to use red and pink wedding colors, and your winter wedding ideas would gear more towards that romantic day.

Winter Wedding Ideas – Centerpieces

There are many great ideas for winter wedding centerpieces that the options are limitless, but here are some great ideas to help you get started and maybe get your creative juices flowing. Winter fruit can be a beautiful and unique winter wedding centerpiece. Fill large glasses or hurricane vases with plastic cranberries, or even real cranberries from the store (they are inexpensive). Then, place a large candle or other item in the cranberries for a breathtaking winter wedding centerpiece. Another popular idea is to use large plastic or foam snowflakes. Hang them from a small stand and let them turn and move on their own, or cut out large foam snowflakes and spray paint white and add glitter for another eye-catching winter wedding centerpiece. Stand these large foam snowflakes alone on the table, or several at different heights for a more eye-catching design.

Whichever kind of winter wedding ideas that you come up with, be sure that they give off your favorite aspects about the winter season. Do you find the winter season relaxed and cozy, or dramatic? Go off of these unique feelings and views that you have about the winter season, and you won’t have any trouble at all coming up with some great winter wedding ideas that will really make your wedding stand out from the pack.
