Wedding Dresses

What do you think about when you hear the term wedding dresses? Typically, when a normal everyday person hears the term wedding dresses, they picture big white wedding dresses, and young brides walking down the aisle on their daddy’s arm. But the truth is, wedding dresses are so much more. A wedding dress is what sets you apart from everyone else on your wedding day as the joyful and blushing bride. But not all wedding dresses are what we think they are at first. What really makes a wedding dress, do they have to always be white, and do they have to cost so much money? Here are some answers to common questions about wedding dresses.

What Makes a Wedding Dress?

As I mentioned earlier, wedding dresses set the bride apart from every other woman at her wedding. It’s the bride and groom’s special day, and she deserves a dress that sets her apart. But not all wedding dresses have to be huge affairs with yards of tulle and material. Some brides choose wedding dresses that are more casual, without the fancy beading and long trains. Also, some brides choose wedding dresses that aren’t in that signature white color. Which brings me to my next question.

Do Wedding Dresses Have to be White?

No. That’s the quick answer for you. Many people only see white wedding dresses as being traditional, and anything that is remotely different, such as a splash of color or even a red wedding dress as nontraditional and you might get some backlash for choosing it. But did you know that just over a hundred years ago, and even in other countries, wedding dresses can be found in every color under the sun. The white isn’t a replication of the purity of the bride, but instead a bright color to reflect her happiness at the upcoming wedding. You can find great colored wedding dresses online or in stores, and if a traditional white wedding dress never appealed to you, maybe a colored one will.

Do Wedding Dresses Have to Cost so Much?

Also no. Many brides who are planning their wedding just assume that paying a high cost for a wedding dress is a part of planning a wedding, and will happily pay full price. But there are many things you can do to save money on a big fancy wedding dress. You can go with used wedding dresses that can be found from recent brides looking to unload their dress or from thrift or consignment stores. You can aslo design your own wedding dress from wedding dress patterns or pictures that you like. Also, sample sales are a great way to find new wedding dresses for over half off! It’s worth looking into, and no one will be able to tell how much money you saved!

There are lots of great things you can do to make your wedding completely yours. Your wedding day is your special day, and one that you’ve dreamed about since you were a little girl. So make sure that every part of your wedding, even your wedding dress is an extension of your personality, and don’t overpay for something you can find for less!
