Basically, the purpose of having a green wedding is to try to lessen the lasting impact that their wedding celebration will have on the environment. There are many different important factors to consider when planning a green wedding, such as what kinds of wedding reception decorations to use, your wedding invitations and programs, your menu, wedding dress, and of course, what kind of wedding favors you hand out to your guests. While many of your wedding guests will take home their wedding favors and use them, many others will have no use for them, or just throw them out, creating a lot of extra waste. Now, if you know your friends and family pretty well and know their basic skill level when it comes to planting then that should help you to know what kinds of seeds to purchase for your wedding favors. If most of your family and friends love gardening, then you could choose a particular plant that is beautiful, but a bit harder to grow. If not many people in your family have a green thumb, then choose something easy where all they have to do is sprinkle the seeds in the grass and water the grass to get some beautiful wildflowers.

Another great wedding favor that many brides use is potpourri. You can make some beautiful sachets and potpourri bags for your guests using an all natural and untreated material. Then, buy some organic herbs in bulk and create your own mix of scents. Rose petals, lavender, berries, and even herbs like rosemary will help you to create a delicious scent that will liven up homes, cars, and any other area that can use an organic pick-me-up. Be sure to create a tag for each bag with a romantic verse or a history of your chosen herbs.
Green weddings are an excellent way to conserve potential wastes and toxins that are a part of many regular weddings. Having a green wedding doesn’t take a huge wallet or pocketbook, just a few earth friendly choices that can help to improve the environment instead of hurting it any further.
