Bridal Showers No Comments »

Bridal Shower IdeasBridal showers are always a great time for ladies to spend some time together, and to celebrate the upcoming marriage of a dear friend or family member. For friends and family planning a bridal shower, sometimes it can be hard to come up with some great bridal shower ideas to help ensure you have a great bridal shower. There are so many different themes and other kinds of bridal shower ideas you can use to make your bridal shower one of a kind, but it can be difficult in knowing where to start. So here are some great bridal shower ideas in all the different areas and themes you can use to help create the perfect bridal shower that will be remembered for some time.

Bridal Shower Ideas - A Theme

One of the first things you’ll need to consider when coming up with bridal shower ideas is if you want to have a theme for your bridal shower. A theme can be anything from a color to a particular kind of gift you’re wanting to focus on, or even a particular kind of food you’ll be serving at the shower.

Invitation Wording for a Shower

Bridal Showers No Comments »

Invitation Wording for a ShowerMy sister is going through this right now, and it seems to be driving her crazy. She is planning a bridal shower for a good friend of hers from college who is getting married next month. Katie, my sister, wants to create a bridal shower invitation that will sound and look cute, and be something memorable for her friend to hang on to in the future, but is having trouble coming up with ideas. This really does happen a lot. Sometimes its hard finding the perfect invitation working for a shower, when you want to come up with something cute and your mind just sort of hits a brick wall so to speak. So, if you are planning a bridal shower, and need help with the invitation wording for your bridal shower, here are some great commonly used verses and poems to help you get started.

  • John and Jane will soon have a wedding /Down the aisle is where they’re heading /Before they become husband and wife /Let’s shower them with things for their new life
  • Jane’s wedding is only days away/Let’s help her relax before the big day
  • They’ve bought the dress and ordered the cake /They’re anxious about the vows they’ll make /To help pass the time and shorten the wait /We’re having a shower and here is the date.
  • Jane is getting married/Who would have thought?/Lets throw her a party/Before she ties the knot!
  • Jane’s wedding is on the way/Let’s get her prepared for the big day!
  • Jane’s all grown up/And giggling with glee/Please join us to honor/our sweet bride-to-be!

Of course, with any invitation wording for a shower, you will want to be sure to include the place, time and day, along with RSVP information. If you are having a couples shower, then your invitation wording for the shower needs to somehow indicate that it is for couples, and if a meal or snacks are being served. Invitation wording for showers should not be the most difficult part of planning a bridal shower for your friend, so take a deep breath, and remember to have fun with it. Bridal Shower Games

Bridal Showers No Comments »

Bridal Shower GamesMost women like going to bridal showers. It’s not for the fancy finger foods or other snack platters that will be served, or even to sit and watch the bride open gifts. For most women, the fun in a bridal shower comes from the different bridal shower games that are played during the bridal shower. It’s a time to have fun and play games with friends, family, and possibly new people you’ve never met before. Bridal shower games are easy to put together, and can really help to liven things up or to help serve as an ice breaker for a group of ladies who don’t know each other very well. I love bridal shower games, and have done several articles on them in the past, like Christian Bridal Shower Games and Great Bridal Shower Games. There are tons of ideas for bridal shower games, and here are more of my favorites.

Famous TV Couples Bridal Shower Game

To get this fun bridal shower game going, make a list of at least 20 - 25 famous TV couples, such as Fred and Wilma Flintstone, or Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. Then, during the bridal shower, pass out a piece of paper and pencil to each lady, and call out only one of the names of the couple, and have the guests fill in the name of the other person. The lady with the most correct names at the end wins the game.

Touch and Feel Bridal Shower Game

To prepare for this bridal shower game, place several ordinary household items such as a remote control, large fork, light bulb, spatula, and so on, in a small cloth bag, or bag that is not see through. Then, at the bridal shower, pass out a piece of paper and pencil to each lady. Pass each bag around and have each lady feel the bag and guess on their paper what each item is. The lady with the most correct items wins the game.

The Apron Bridal Shower Game

I was able to play this bridal shower game a while back, and it was really fun. Have someone buy or bring a large apron with lots of pockets for the bride to wear. Then, bring as many different kinds of kitchen utensils you can find. Have the bride put the apron on, and help her fill up the pockets of her apron with the utensils, letting each guest see the utensils as you place them in the apron. Then, have the bride walk around the group of ladies a few times and then leave the room. While she is gone, have each lady write down as many things as they can remember that are in her apron, in as much detail as they can remember. After about 5 minutes have the bride come back in and pull everything out of the apron. The guest with the most correct wins the game.

Bridal shower games are great fun, and to me a bridal shower just isn’t the same without some great bridal shower games to go along with it. Bridal shower games are fun for both the bride and her guests alike, and will really help everyone to have a great time at your bridal shower. It only takes a few minutes to put together some of these great bridal shower games, and trust me, your guests will really appreciate it.

Sending Bridal Shower Thank You Notes

Bridal Showers No Comments »

Sending Bridal Shower Thank You NotesBefore our wedding, my fiance and I had several bridal showers which were thrown for us. They were all really nice, very thoughtful and a lot of fun, but I was so busy with my wedding planning, that I didn’t really think about the bridal shower thank you cards for the different bridal showers. I was planning the wedding all by myself, while trying to keep up with a full time job and trying to buy a house with my fiance to move into after the wedding. Probably too much on my plate at one time, but then again, hindsight is always 20/20.

Luckily, I did have the presence of mind to keep detailed lists about who gave what. I also managed to keep all of the gifts and lists together so that they wouldn’t get lost during everything that was going on. So I at least had that much, but I did not send out any bridal shower thank you cards for the gifts from the bridal showers until after the wedding, honeymoon, and move was over, and I found myself facing some problems. Here are some tips to keep it from happening to you.

Keep Excellent Notes

You’ll remember that one of the Duties of the Maid of Honor is to attend the bridal showers and keep a neat and detailed list of who gave each gift. Take the time between opening each gift to make sure your maid of honor has all the information she needs so that your thank you cards for each gift can be correct. This solves a lot of embarrassment and/or hard feelings later.

Complete your Thank You Cards ASAP

If at all possible, I would advise getting your thank you cards done as soon as possible after each bridal shower, say within a week of the shower. That way all of the gifts and who gave them are still fresh in your mind. Not only that, but it saves a lot of time later when you are working on the thank you cards for gifts and cards brought to your wedding. You may think that these cards are something you can put off until a little bit later, but if you choose to do that, you’ll be bogged down later.

One of the biggest problems I had with putting off my bridal shower thank you cards is that some people were on multiple lists, and I didn’t catch it before the card was already written and in the mail. You’ll find if you wait to do your bridal shower thank you cards, you will face many of the same problems that I did, being bogged down by multiple lists, the sheer number of cards to complete, and making mistakes in my bridal shower thank you cards from people being on multiple lists. You can easily solve these issues by doing your bridal shower thank you cards as soon as you can after each event. You’ll be glad that you did.

Bridal Shower Cakes

Bridal Showers 2 Comments »

Bridal Shower CakesWhile bridal showers have evolved by means of fun new games, themes, and even the possibility of co-ed bridal showers, one thing hasn’t changed, and that is the bridal shower cake. Of course, you need to have other bridal shower snacks as well as the cake, but the bridal shower cake remains unchanged. If you are throwing a bridal shower for a dear friend or family member, be sure not to let the bridal shower cake slip your mind. If you’re like me, I don’t like many kinds of cakes, and so the cake is really the last thing to enter my mind. If the bride is that way as well, not too excited about having cake, or it just doesn’t fit in very well with your theme, then there are always variations of bridal shower cakes that you can use or make yourself, and here are some of my favorites ideas for doing just that.
