Planning a Wedding Day Schedule

Wedding Day Tips No Comments »

Planning a Wedding Day ScheduleTo keep your wedding from turning into a crazy free for all with no organization or plan is an excellent recipe for disaster. Granted, there can always be something that crops up at the last minute, causing  a scramble, but your whole day shouldn’t run that way. It makes things extra stressful for you, things can easily be forgotten, and those wanting to help can be left out to dry while you try and handle everything by yourself. Not a good combination for a joyful and happiest day of your life wedding day. The best way to keep the craziness at bay is to work before your wedding day takes place to create a wedding day schedule for you, your wedding party, and any other relatives and guests who are there to help make your day easier. Having trouble coming up with a wedding day schedule? Here are some important necessities to remember to include.

Mapping out your Wedding Day Time line

Perhaps the best way to start creating your wedding day schedule is to create a time line of events. On a sheet of paper, list the time the wedding starts down, along with any other firm times, such as hair appointments, delivery times, photography sessions, availability times for decorating the church or reception hall, and as many more as you can think of.

Planning a Wedding Day Brunch

Wedding Day Tips No Comments »

Planning a Wedding Day BrunchThere are some things about your wedding day that may be more difficult than others. What was hard for my husband and me was that we had lots of family coming in from out of town, out of state, and some even out of the country to attend our wedding. Because we were so busy planning the wedding, decorating church and reception hall, doing the rehearsal dinner and and activities surrounding it, it was really difficult for us to be able to spend time with some of our family members who had come great distances. We had missed them and wanted to spend time with them, but time restraints just didn’t allow the long lengthy visits that we really wanted. We tried our best, foregoing a good night’s sleep before the wedding, and having a long wedding reception, but it still wasn’t quite the same. So when my sister planned a wedding day brunch for the morning of her wedding, I thought that was an excellent idea, and one to write about today.

Why plan a Wedding Day Brunch?

Like I mentioned above, a wedding day brunch is a great way for the bride and her family to be able to spend more time with her bridesmaids, family members, and other special friends and people in her life.

Wedding Day Checklist

Wedding Day Tips, Wedding Planning No Comments »

Wedding Day Checklist

If you haven’t felt it already, the stress on your wedding day will be unlike any other stress you’ve ever felt before. All the work and time that you’ve put into planning your wedding is all coming together on your wedding day. And yes, it is a very exciting time, but if you’re not careful you could let the stress put a damper on your wedding day - and that is something you definitely don’t want. So I can’t stress just how important it is to keep your head and be able to manage your stress. The first thing you’ll want to do is (if you don’t know already), learn to delegate some of the work to close family and friends that you can depend on. This really will help you alot, and will give you some time to relax on your wedding day as well. The other thing you need to do is create a wedding day checklist so that you can be sure you’re not forgetting anything. I’m a big fan of lists. A wedding day checklist made in advance can help you relax on your wedding day knowing that everything is taken care of, or will be taken care of. Here are some important things to remember on your wedding day checklist so there are no surprises later.

Wedding Day Decorating

Due to my circumstances, I was unable to decorate my ceremony location and reception hall until the day of the wedding. But luckily, I had many family members come up early that morning ready to help make everything perfect. My wedding day checklist had to include everything that I wanted as decorations to be out, such as the pew bows, flower arrangements, prayer bench and aisle runners. So my list consisted of making sure that everything was where it needed to be for my family to decorate. Same with the reception hall. So if you have to decorate your wedding locations the morning of, it’s best to have all the decorations you need on your wedding day checklist so you can make sure you have everything you need in the right place.

Wedding Day Vendors

Another thing you’ll need to have on your wedding day checklist is the vendors that will be dropping off things for your wedding, and when they are scheduled to arrive. It’s best to have their phone numbers with you in case they get lost, or are running late.

Wedding Day Payments

Typically, your wedding day is when you’ll need to hand out payments and offerings for many of the vendors and other people playing a role in your wedding. Your wedding day checklist needs to say who should be getting a check, and how much.

Wedding Day Necessities

Most importantly, your wedding day checklist needs to include a list of necessities for your wedding day. Have a bag packed and ready with everything you will need to get ready for the wedding such as : your dress, hose, special underwear, shoes, bridal tiara, jewelry, and anything else that could apply. Also, your wedding day checklist needs to include what you will need for your honeymoon. You should have already packed for your honeymoon before, but make sure you remember your suitcase, boarding passes, and any other documents you’ll need for the trip.

When making your wedding day checklist, just remember to do the best you can. The more time and thought you put into it will help ensure the least amount of surprises you’ll have to deal with on your wedding day. Typically, there is always something small or trivial that you will forget - but with careful planning and delegating of responsibilites, you’ll be able to keep the damage to a minimum.

Subscribe to RSS FeedOne great resource that I can offer my readers is the ability to sign up for an RSS feed from my site. In fact, if you’ve spent any time on my site, you notice that big square orange button in my side bar that allows people to sign up for my feed. Not sure what this means? Don’t worry, a lot of people out there don’t know either. And since they don’t know, they miss the opportunity to save some precious time! With an RSS feed, you can easily take advantage of signing up for your favorite blog’s RSS feeds, which can be a huge advantage for you. If you are wondering what an RSS feed is, then let me explain it real quick, and why it can be so beneficial for you to take advantage of.

What is an RSS Feed?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (really!). Syndication for the web, defined by Wikipedia, is web feeds which make a portion of the website available to other sites and subscribers. This means, when you sign up for my RSS feed, you are basically signing up to be on my automated update list. This means that whenever I post an article to my site, you will receive a copy of it in your favorite feed reader so that you won’t miss anything.

What is a Feed Reader?

A feed reader is software that you can use to track multiple RSS feeds at one time, in one place. One popular feed reader is bloglines.com. You can sign up for a free account with them, and then you’ll have the ability to track several feeds from your favorite websites and blogs that offer RSS, and you can see all your site’s favorite articles from a single page. Nice huh? Some good news is that you have several different choices with regard to feed readers you can use. Notice next to my RSS feed button in the sidebar that you’ll see an icon for Bloglines, Add to Google, My Yahoo, Newsgator, and My AOL. If you click on one of these icons, it will take you to a screen that will allow you to easily add my feed to your choice. So, for example, since I use Yahoo for my email, I would want to click the My Yahoo button so that I can read my email and see the feeds from my favorite websites all on one page. They won’t show up as messages in your email, instead, they will be located under the Feed called “Wedding Help”, so that you can view them when you want to. If you want the messages to show up as email in your box, then simply click on the big orange button, and on the next screen, choose “Get Wedding Help delivered by email”, enter your email address and verification, and you’re off and running.

Why RSS is so Cool!

First of all, RSS feeds are totally free! Also, RSS feeds are so great because they allow you view lots of different feeds quickly and easily, without having to remember a bunch of different web addresses, and time spent surfing the Internet. Wedding Help offers an RSS feed for those who don’t always have time to come and check out the most recent articles. I know how busy planning a wedding can be, but you don’t want to miss out on some great articles that could potentially save you a bunch of money, or solve a big problem for you. This is a great resource to take advantage of to keep you abreast of everything going on. Sign up for it today, if you have any problems or have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to write in and let me know!

My Bridal Hair and Make-up Story

Wedding Day Tips No Comments »

My Bridal Hair and Make-up StoryI’ll be the first to admit that I’m not real great at doing my own hair. To tell the truth, all I can really do is a pony tail, or maybe on a good day I can do this little french twist thing with a couple off bobby pins. For some reason curling irons never do what I want them to do, and my flat iron just doesn’t work with me either. Lucky for me my husband likes my hair down and straight, and that is easy enough for me to handle. And while we are being truthful here, I don’t really even like wearing make-up all that much. I’ll put some base and eyeliner on for a special occasion, but anything else I’m pretty lost on. So I knew that for my wedding I would have to either enlist a friend with those talents, or hire an expert to help me out. After some minor research I found an expert in both hair and make-up nearby who could help me out.

This lady I found would come out to my wedding site and do my hair and make-up. She would also stay right up until the wedding started in case something went wrong or some pins came loose. Not only that, but she was also there on site and available to work with my bridesmaids and get their hair and make-up done as well if they needed it. This saved both me and my bridesmaids a lot of time and stress having to make appointments at a salon and then be back in time for pictures. Not only that, I didn’t have to worry about getting from the salon to the church while keeping my hair in place. This method worked out the best for me since not only was I unable to do the work myself, I was also able to not have something else to worry about. This may not be the best route for everyone though.

Some women can do their make-up well, and don’t need someone to come in and help them with that. If you can do your own make-up, and own all the make up you need to get the look you want for your wedding, then do it yourself and save the money. I just knew the extent of my talent at make-up, and knew that I needed some help. Also, if you have a friend who can do hair well, and is willing to take the time to do your hair for the wedding, then show her pictures of what you’d like and have her try and do it for you. A couple of practice sessions may be in order. With all the expenses of your wedding, I know how brides need to save money where they can, and this is one of those areas. If you can do your own make-up, and get someone to do your hair for you, then I say go for it. Unfortunately this was something I had to spend the money on because I knew that there was no way I could do it myself.
