What Kind of Honeymoon Perks Can I Get, and How?

Get Great Honeymoon Perks!

In order to help draw attention to their locations and honeymoon packages, many resorts and airlines offer perks to those on their honeymoon. You hear stories about how people were bumped up to first class, got an upgraded room, free meals, gift baskets, and all kinds of other perks given to honeymooners. There are several ways that you can get these perks, and you should take advantage of any of them that you can receive.

On our honeymoon, the resort was very nice when it came to perks for our honeymoon. They gave us a set of all natural lotions, soaps and massage oils as a gift upon arrival. Then during the course of the week, we received an order for breakfast in bed (it was an all-inclusive honeymoon package, so there was no cost to begin with, but it was nice not to have to worry about grabbing breakfast somewhere), a bottle of wine with two chilled glasses, and a bottle of tequila with shot glasses which had engravings of the hotel. Now, my husband and I don’t drink, but it was a nice thought.

Visit your Travel Agent

A travel agent will be able to fill you in on all the details of a great honeymoon package, as well as what, if any, perks that the hotel will offer to honeymooners. The most usual perks that a resort will offer are: free room upgrades (based upon availability of course), some type of gift for you to be left in the room, gift certificates for resort amenities such as spa treatments or restaurants, a free breakfast in bed one morning, etc. The perks vary from resort to resort depending on the size and location of the resort, so be sure to check them until you find one that offers something that grabs your interest.

Don’t be Afraid to Ask

All a person can say is no, right? Some airlines will upgrade you if you let them know that is your honeymoon and ask if any upgrades are available. Sometimes the airline will bump you to first class without a fee, and sometimes they will discount the cost to upgrade to help make your flight more comfortable. If you are booking your honeymoon resort yourself, don’t be afraid to ask if they offer any upgrades or perks for honeymooners.

Prove It!

Even though resorts offer perks to their guests honeymooning, you will need to prove the fact that you were just married. Before you leave on your honeymoon, be double sure that you have a copy of your marriage license to show. No marriage license, no perks, so be careful.
